Playing different stakes at the same time?

I am staked for 02/05. Is it a bad idea to multi table and play say two of 05 and two of 02? Will this hurt my game? The way I see it the players here pretty much play the same.

Why do you want to do it?

To be honest it's because I just moved to 02/05 after playing 01/02 for a very long time.

I guess I should also mention (not even sure it will matter) that I play PLO and PLO8 a lot more than I play NLHE

No, I don't think it would be good to give one table or stake more attention than another table or stake.

Play them all the same.

It doesn't really matter. I play 8 or 9 tables of 25nl with 3 or 4 50nl tables thrown in. I play both pretty much the same way.

I don't do it!
Mostly because I get confused easily. If I'm playing two stakes and see a standard bet at that stake I sometime think its too small of a bet, or I raise my "standard" amount and its like 8BB at that table instead of 4.

Like I said I get confused easily, so for me I just play one stake at a time, there are enough tables out there that are playing on that its no big deal.
If I'm moving up and I don't want to play a lot at the new level I play fewer tables, which is probably not a bad idea anyway since I'm not familiar with that level yet and it will encourage me to pay attention and feel out the new stake with less of my bankroll in jeopardy.

But if you have a stronger mind than I do, you can probably handle it no problem- I also get distracted sometime by reflections, shiny objects, silly sounds, and sparkly things.

If you are just now moving up to the new limit. I would say cut down the number of tables that you are playing at and focus all of your attention on the new limit. Once you know that you are comfortable at this limit start adding more tables back in.

I saw this today playing 01/02 an 02/05. It's a good point that i will be more mindful of when I do mix stakes.

I was up to 4 tables at 01/02 (PLO and PLO8) and now that I am up to 02/05 I am only doing 2 tables. Might add a few more in a week or so as long as I am moving more towards 05/10 than I am back to 01/02

I personally play different limits and the reason for this is that i am always on the hunt for the most juicy games. What i learned is never move up in limit to where ur br cant handle it. Say if ur play 5/10 but u have a good table at 5/10 and find 3 tables at 2/5 why not play in the games where u will have the best edge regardless if u move down in stakes. Just my 2 cents.

Since I have been playing alot of PLO8 lately I usually end up at mixed stakes simply because I don't want to wait for a spot to open on the level I am rolled for. I always look to the lower stake and not a higher one when doing this.

I have been doing fairly well mixing 2PLO and 5PLO. It doesn't feel much different than playing all tables in the same stakes.

I think it's fine. I multi-table different games at the same time, and I can't see too much difference between 2PLO and 5PLO.

I usually play 1 or 2 tables of limit O8 and 1 or 2 of PLO and I have to be careful not go mix them up, I usually put the O8s on top of the screen.

I don't see why you would want to do this unless you NEEDED to. Like with higher stakes such as $1/$2 NL, I see those guys also playing one higher simply because there aren't enough tables and/or fish at that level.

In microlimits you have sooo many tables I just can't see the point in wanting to play 2 different stakes at the same time..

if you feel comfortable playing more than one stake than go for it. i dont really understand the logic behind it but whatever works for you go with it i say

i gave it a try, and personally i did not feel comfortable. i tried mixing 5nl with 2nl just like you and it did not go well, mainly because at 2nl my bet sizes are different from those at 5nl, at 2 nl, lets say, i have AA i raise 18c or 8xBB, at 5nl i raise to 20c so only 4xBB.

i rather go with mixing full ring with 6 handed.

You raise 8x BB at 2NL?

I don't think it matters unless the jump in stakes is high

Mixing fullring at 6max seems worse than mixing stakes to me

Just be carefull to keep your tables straight as you could be raising what is a standard raise for one limit but way too low or high for the other.

yes, sometimes even more, playing at a loose table with 40% players/flop raising 3xBB wont do any good, 6c is almost the same as 2c for players who don't know what they are doing. so i raise 8xBB, sometimes 10 or 11 with AA, has been working great for the past 200k hands!

I find 3x as a standard is a good start, adding 2c for every posted blind / limper. If someone is a calling station and I've got a hand strong enough for them to call me with then I want them to call and get max value out of them, or I can just out play them post flop!

If anyone raised 8x BB on a 2NL table I was on, then I'd be folding everything but KK & AA, and I think a lot of others would too, however donkish they are.

I've only played 15k hands, and maybe it's just the site that you play at, but still...

I'm not sure why you would want to play a lower limit unless you wanted to "experiment" with a new technique. Personally, I want to play at the highest limit I have a BR for.
