Playing Ace/rag....... Has anybody ever noticed that when, lets say, you get A-8 or even A-6 off suit (which, by the way are 2 of my most HATED cards!) that it's the RAG cards that will make the hand?? A number of time I'll be inna BB and it's to me and it's a check---and then flopped are things like---8-8-7----or---8-7-10 and the like. Aces SELDOM are involved. And when they are, it's when I FOLD A-6o (which I do onna regular) and then 6-6-A are flopped?? Or am I the only one this happens too?

re: Playing Ace/rag....... poker Unless they're suited, checking them from BB is as far as I'll take them. That is with A-anything under 10 off. Yes quite often you fold to a minimum raise with A rag off and see a pair flop to match the rag, but more often than not Murphy's Law kicks in and all you did was feed the pot some chips and see cards that do nothing for you. Keep in mind that the number of players in the hand and their position if they bet or how large the raise needs to be considered in your decision. If you're stacked sometimes it's worth seeing the flop if you can afford it. Typically though, those 'ragging' and calling a raise with ace-off (9and under) are fishing or they're having a luckbox day.

i dont think it is donkish playing A rag. ive won alot of money with A rag. alot of peolpe have bluffing hands. one guy uses 83 and when he runs in to some resistance he tosses them. i on the other hand use A rag as my bluffing hand. the only thing is u have to be able to lay it down to a raise on the flop depending on who your opponent is. and in a real loose game sometimes its the best hand. i get tired of the dont play A rag, i say use it as a bluff hand but only if u can fold or u have an excellent read of the table. one note, this is for live action and not online and not for a real tight table. im more of a people watcher so i usually know if my hand is good or not.

re: Playing Ace/rag....... poker The way i see it, they usually only pay off if they are Ace-low rag. I usually only play ace-2 through 5 suited or unsuited. 6 through 9 only suited. Mind you, this never happens more than 2 spots after the button, unless sb or bb, in which case ill limp or check. And never to a raise. But they do pay off for me, because its something you can get away from easily. No problem folding to a reraise with an ace on the board if you have ace-3 off.
