The Script

Anyway, Phil runs through a little check-list before each action. First he asks himself:

Are my opponents playing conservatively? Aggressively? Tentatively?

What are some of the hands my opponents are likely to hold?

What do my opponents think I have?

and then:

Should I bet or raise?

Should I check (or fold)?

I just found it interesting because I'd been considering coming up with one on my own. I used a similar thought process when teaching people how to play chess. Rookie chess players often get overwhelmed by all the possible moves but you can narrow down options by asking certain questions like, "Can my opponent check-mate on his next move?". If so, then your goals are pretty clear.

Anyway, does anybody have a checklist they go through during a hand? What do you think of Phil's? Does anyone have a donut? Who is going to win the Super-Bowl?

if you want more of those strategies , buy his books there is pretty decent material in there and the price isn't so crazy at all and it's easier to read a book than an internet page.

Yes I do, it makes it much easier to make sure you are considering all the important factors

The first factor for me is position. If I am early or middle I need monsters to call.

Post flop I always ask what's is the nuts? does my opponent have it?

If I don't think anyone has the nuts I then ask what hand is going to take this down? Do I have it or do my opponents?
