On a board like this it's usually someone looking to see a cheap card but there are always idiots who do this with all kinds of random hands. Against his stack size you're better off to just call this turn bet since he's unlikely to fold if you raise but the pot's too big to fold what could be the best hand to a min raise.

in my expereince, the donk minbet means they caught 3rd or 2nd pair(was gonna type this b4 you posted whole hand lol), so if you have nothing you can bluff them out of the hand sometimes, but calling stations will call all the way to try to hit the 2nd pair, or trips.

Anyway for this hand i would try to fire the second barrel. In most cases that is a block bet or at list that is what the fish thinks. 2 cents is nothing do not think of them because that is not a raise. He is a classic calling station. Can you bluff him on the turn or not? Being calm now and see what he has is an advantage for the next time when you bump into him. |

re: People that donk minbet poker The min bet is generally a draw or a made but weak hand. If I have a good hand, I raise him. If I have two overcards, I call and don’t raise unless I improve. If he’s hit something but is willing to let me continue for cheap, and I have a hand that’s likely good if I improve, why not if he’s giving me huge odds? After you showdown a few hands and prove you have the goods, then you can start bluffing a few times if he’s still min. donk betting and you feel saucy.

Used to see this play fairly often 7-8 years ago (but usually a little more reasonable than this one) when players were out of position and trying to control the pit size - sort of like an idiots blocking bet. At the time, it used to work fairly often. I agree with the others, raise him if only to define your hand.

I see this sometimes too. I think these are beginers who disregard your betting patteren. They bet on value only, and can be easier to spot as they donk bet more than c/r they are just betting based on the board. It's easier to judge the value of their hand by how they bet according to the board. More experienced players might thin bet a monster, beginners thin bet for value and sometimes its hard to know which type of player until the hand is complete.
