Open ended Straight (Hold'em)
So it's a turnament with a buy-in like 10$ first 3 get payd, 4 left. You're in early posision with
and . You have about 20 BB's covered so you deside to call. The SB limps in and the BB checks. Let's say that the BB is a fairly agressive player. So the flop . Basically a rainbow, so no flushes. You're on an open ended straight, what's the best move? |

Simple, bet the blind (up to ) double, you wanna see where your hand sets, while building the pot in case you hit your card, the turn card is the key, if you don't hit the str8 but the board pairs, do not rush in with a big bet to try and steal it, the boat comes into play, and be carefull of a backdoor flush if the second suit card falls, I could just see AK suited still playing the hand if the turn gave them the nut flush. That hand gets my wife everytime when she makes the str8 on the river, she never see's it coming, then yells, how could he call that.................

I wouldn't put any of my opponents on an Ace considering they didn't raise preflop being in the blind already. Maybe it's just the way I play, but if I see any ace in the SB or BB and no raise before action gets to me I usually like to raise and atleast make it a heads up situation. I'd check since you are first to act and if someone bets I auto raise. #1 you can take down the pot with a reraise if your opponent flopped a J and he puts u on an ace. #2 he can just call with a wide variety of hands and if the turn hits it's time to get paid off if he has a grip. #3 if he raises you have a decision to make, and you still have 8 outs if not 11 with your Q. You can't play an open ended straight soft and wait for something to happen. That's weak poker right there.
