One of the worst online mistakes i see people make

Alot of times ill be playing people and they will keep calling your bets when your on the button, and if the river comes without them hitting their straight or flush they just fold they dont even check. These are some of the easiest players to take advantage of, bet your trips etc or even top pair if you suspect them to be on a draw. They should call half the pot clear up to equal the pot and then on the river they will just fold or some will actually stab at it but theres a couple of these guys in most free rolls, and they can be easy chips if you get heads up with one. They seem to play suited cards only or pocket cards and will go clear till the river. If you suspect they make a hand normally they play so fast they will check their flush on the river even without even realizing it and you can check. But normally its worth the chips because it will pay off far more then usual, but if you cant take a "bad beat" then avoid these guys because then youll end up breaking your computer or something lol.

Anyone that stupid deserves to be broke. Take all their money. Hopefully at that point they won't be able to afford groceries and will starve to death. Darwin theory at work.

I agree. I haven't seen that mistake on anyone really - but again, there's pretty stupid people out there.

I see it happen all the time. You can't fault them really because I'm sure they are learning. I know in the beginning, I've done this a couple times until I learned not to do it.

OH BTW - don't tell them what they are doing or educate them - let them find out for themselves. There's a saying - never give lessons to anyone you're playing poker with. It will bite you in the @ss.

LOL see it a lot in tourneys early on too, people seem to think the card will fall to give them the hand. I can only guess they do this because it does seem to happen on a regualar basis, but not often enough i would think to play the draw.

Well, I'm still fairly new myself. But the most common things I see are people ignoring the possibility of a straight or flush draw because they catch top pair (and continuing to call every bet that comes their way). I'm a pretty tight player, but it is impossible to have any idea what is in their hands. If they need a 2, 6 for their straight or full house, these lunatics could very well have cheerfully called a preflop raise on their 2,6 and then hit the motherload. I have seen a lot of crap hands turn into monsters.

Luna - it's VERY possible to have an IDEA of what a person has in their hand. That's the whole idea of poker. What many people miss as well are flushes when they come out every other card. I know I've done it - thinking my trips are best. Always survey the cards.

Many new players think you are bluffing as well because they try to do it. LOL

Stupid is as stupid does.

Anyone who is doing that with any regularity is broke and/or stupid.

they are really playing for the win and nothing else, they dont know how to play and they feel they can get lucky, they are the most forsfull players and think they can win with anything,i try to avoid them and fold but sometimes it comes down to luck and they win>but in the overall you will beat them most of the time . tourneys take a lot of patience and if you have that you will win>>these bluffers will go out sooner or later and it takes patience to get them out,so play your game and be carefull>>> buckster436

I basically agree with buckster there like a few of my friends and relatives who think poker is a complete game of chance which is really bad to think that way. Many people will say it when they get a bad beat but if you constantly think like that you're almost sure to lose.

Yes, people do this all the time. I encountered one person today who would never fold anything until he saw the river (it was a limit game, but still...). I was able to regularly sap him for money because the vast majority of the time he would make absolutely nothing. Basically, if you play against the odds regularly, you will get burned in the long run.

You know what, I actually will bet on a flush draw or open ended straight draw here is why.

1)You will hit a flush or open ended straight about 34% of the time with two cards remaining.

2)If you are the one betting you can control the amounts since most people are check machines. You then are making it more profitable when you do hit. If someone is smart and rereaises your bets you can get out early.

3)Disguise your hand. Most people would suspect that when the third spade or straight hits you just got busted and are buying the hand.

I don't do this every time but it works and pays off in the long run. You lose 2 rounds of bets when you don't get it but have 3 rounds when you do.
