Omaha Starting Hands

I've read the articles in this forum regarding starting hands. In doing some additional research, I found this link. http://casinogambling.about.com/cs/p...mahahilo_2.htm

If anyone uses this method, how did you modify this if you only play Omaha Hi as opposed to HI/LO??

Thanks.

I've used a similar, but probably slightly more sophisticated point counting system with some success: http://www.homestead.com/ehutchison/OmahaSystem.html

Also linked to from that page are points counting systems for Omaha and Holdem and Holdem High-Low.

I would say the easiest way to try to transfer this point system to just high is use the same point for everything except the straight.

Use the same point system for straights but convert to the face cards for the high straight.
A2 = AK
A3 = AQ
A4 = AJ
23 = KQ

You get the idea. These would give you a shot at the high straight instead of the wheel straight as in hi/lo.

I don't think converting the point system from hi/lo to hi only is possible. So I think the the method you gave Titans is wrong. For instance, almost every hand with A2 in it is playable in O8, but AK needs a LOT of help to be playable in hi only.
If you want to use a pointsystem for high aswell, I think you will have to learn one more system. I however do think it is better simply to learn what hands are playable, instead of counting points, but maybe it's just me who never learned how to award the points correctly.

Thanks for all of the responses. The reason I'm looking to use a point system is because I'm still a bit unsure of when to muck or play marginal hands. I think that's where a point system will help me out until I can gain some more experience with Omaha. My biggest fear is that I'll be playing too many hands like I did when I first started playing Hold'em.

Starfall, thanks a lot for the link you provided. I took a look at it and my only fear is that I won't have enough time to count before I get autofolded for taking too much time
