| Omaha HiLo live play noobie Since black friday I've found myself playing a lot of Omaha HiLo 4/8 with half kill at a b&m in my area. The game is very loose, often 5,6, or 7 handed before the flop. At first I played really tight and was winning. Recently I've opened my game up and became more aggressive based on where I sit (tight players to my left and loose to my right). My last three sessions have been wins of $454, $478, and $328 or 5.25 bb per/hr. I was thinking 2 bb per/hr was a good goal but do good Omaha8 players expect more than 5 bb per/hr? The casino I play has a peculiar rule on the kill pot. Instead of acting last with the kill button you act in your normal position. So if you're in the 6 seat you get the option to raise before 7,8,9 and the blinds get to act. I've been using this as an opportunity to thin the field if I have anything resembling a playable hand. Like I said before, I try to position myself with the tighter players to my left so a raise to 12 b4 the flop usually knocks them out. and I'm left with the loose marginal players to my right in another big pot. I call it "defending the kill button". Has anyone else played in a game that treats the kill button like this? What do you other experienced Omaha8 players think of this strategy? |
