OMAHA HI LOW!!!!!!!!!!! OK. I was involved in a omaha hi low tourny last night and was sitting very pretty after the first hour of play. Of course everyone starts with 1500 in chips and I found myself with 16700 chips before the first break. Here is my question. Is it smart to call with a pocket pair of queens and kings two suited for one? question number two is.......should i only play two suited hands but always have an ace two in my hand for the low? I was taught not to play for low but just to call and see a flop its ok as long as you have ace two? if any of you are serious about this game, please i would like to hear your advice.........thank you

I used to play this game alot, but i got bored of it and now i rarely play. There is an excellent section that helped me alot with omaha hi/low in super system 2. Also, check out the poker articles page here, there is a section in there on omaha hi/low.

KKQQ double suited is better as a pot limit omaha (hi only) hand. If you're in position, you can limp with it, but I wouldn't call a raise. It's a good hand with the right (i.e. high cards) flop, but in split games, you should be looking to scoop the hand. Aces in hand are paramount.

re: OMAHA HI LOW!!!!!!!!!!! poker Yeah...having KKQQ double suited in H/L is ok if you're in the big blind and comes to you, then check it... But I don't like the raise with it in H/L...to dangerous if a lo flops comes, then you're getting half the pot... As for lo hands...If have an amazing lo hand to start (i.e. A-2-3-4, A-2-4-5...etc.) You HAVE to play those...for me, I love to raise pre-flop and let the hi's come in with me... The only thing I hate about Hi/Lo is that people forget that the lo is in the game...when I started playing, people would get pissed why we split the pot...they would argue that their Quads beat my ace high...and then they realized and I am assuming never played again, But yeah...any nice combo of lo, bet it and bet it hard!

The scoop is the thing, but it seldom happens. Two ways to scoop 1, You have great Hi cards and there is no low hand at all, or 2 you got a great low hand, like 4 cards under 8 and hit the str8 with nut low, or nut flush it. Are you talking Limit or NL Omaha. NL Omaha scares the bejesus out of me. I like FL, or even PL Omaha H/L, but will avoid NO Omaha like it is the plague. KKQQ 2 suited should be limped, and depending on your read of the players, and game type, could be raised. It packs a lot of potential. Be completely ready to muck them in a H/L game when you miss totally on the flop Personally I have taken a liking to double suited connectors centered on the ten when playing hi only Omaha.
