Position is going to play a big part in omaha just as it does in holdem. But, basically, you want all 4 cards working together. 2 pair is not a good starting hand unless one pair is aces and they are both suited with your second pair. you want hands that can flop good with redraws to better hands.

to me i really like having something like A10K9 double suited where i have multiple straight draws and many different ways and options to play the hand... when i am playing omaha i normally look to draw... and dont much care for pairs starting out unless its something like JJQT where i have some straight options...
One key is DO NOT FALL IN LOVE WITH AA... if you have (AH)(AC)(6S)(TD) you really dont have a great hand unless you hit an ace... and more than likely you are not going to hit one... so just try and play as many flush and straights as you can... At least this is the way i feel like i have done well in an omaha setting! |

re: Omaha hands poker
AAKK/AAJJ/AAQQ/AATT double suited or not
6789, 789T, 89TJ (suited helps) I'm a pretty loose player though..so I"ll play a high pair if it's got an Ace or King along with it...will play double suited: Ah3hKd4d stuff like that, but position is really key..looking at what your players are raising with, ESPECIALLY at the high limits, people will try to take the blinds with crazy hands, so just try to exploit that, and you should be fine! Any two pair I'll call with..there's a 25% chance of hitting a set with two pair in your hand. Don't really ever try to chase a flush or a straight, it can get expensive and pretty just like in Hold'em, unprofitable. Bet what you have..playing it straightforward has been the best way for me. Don't reraise, unless you are ahead, and in Omaha that's rarely ever, lol. So, keep the pots small. |

Omaha High Low Pot Limit is my favorite card game. I am guessing that you are asking about High Low games, and your question is very revealing .
Just having general know how to play knowledge in Omaha High Low is going to get you hurt and that might drive you out of the game which I would rather have more people playing as its far more fun for me that Holdem. I strongly encourage you to pick up a couple of books to study and practice if your going to put your money into the game. FARHA ON OMAHA which is more advanced, and Championship Ohmaha by Tom Mcevoy which I think every Ohmaha player should give a read. Here is an address to the best prices of the books that I have found. Play like it matters. |

omaha is a crazy game and will make u money in bunches if u hit the flop or have monster draws with 10 outs or more. I like to start with a pair and straight cards that are suited. ex. AAjk KK109 10jQk double suited or atleast one suit. Every now and then u can limp with small pairs and straight cards and will catch some bad players thinking there AK87 is a good hand to have in omaha. Alot of people like position in omaha but i think it is more of seeing flops with little amount invested as possible then u can judge ur outs and go from there. Gl and see u on the felts.

Depends on the game, whether HU of FT, loose or agro, etc... There is no one 'best hand;' optimally you could be looking at 6 winning combinations of 4 cards. U can push AA but if u dont catch and str8s or flushes flop, u r dead. Consider hands that draw well to the flop and backdoor also, like hi str8 with nut flush draw...
On flop, sets and high pairs are usually dogs to the peeps who are drawing to 2 or 3 combinations of outs... Yes it is not like HE starters at all, and backdoor possibilities are abundant, so play hands where all 4 cards can work together in various ways. |

I don't play much PLO8, as split pot games give me a headache.. but for PLO stick to higher cards, the more coordinated the better. If it's a one or two gap rundown, make sure the gap is at the low end, not the high end. There will be a LOT more favorable flops for a hand like 7TJQ than for a hand like 79JQ or 789Q.

AAKK, AAQQ, AAJJ, AA1010 double suits are really good. Most of the time u want hands that are either double suited or straight option, hands w/ both flush and straight options are great. Don't fall in love with AA because any two pair can beat you, and do your best to keep pot small unless u know u got ur opponent beat, which is almost never unless u flop nuts. On Omaha the favorite hand can easily be the worst, so just keep pot small, and play suited/straight hands.

re: Omaha hands poker
I made alot of money in O8 .The best Hand in O8 is AA23 suited.then followed by A234 which you have protected nut low and flush draws. In the O8 version I only play hands with an A suited with a low card that way I'm always gonna have a shot with the low and gar. myself a split pot especially in a three way pot where I can win more than just breaking even you will get quarted sometimes .You want to win the pot by winning 75% or more. You don't want to chase low draws unless getting the price to call or if there more in the pot.If you are heads up don't raise with a low draw just call and split. If the board is 843 rainbow the best low hand is A2 the best high hand is 88 so the nuts would be A288.
