Omaha H/L Preflop Raises Can you think of any other reason for Omaha H/L that someone would bet preflop, other than having A2... Thats typically when I might consider raising preflop. If I'm dealt A34X, or A3XX, preflop, and someone raises, I will definitely consider throwing it away, and if i don't, and a 2 doesn't come on the flop, but low cards do, I will most likely throw it away, especially if that same person raises. Am I playing this sort of hand properly? When else should you raise preflop in Omaha H/L? Also, In Omaha Hi, how do you play a hand when you have a pair, and then flop a three of a kind... Is this a hand worth betting, provided the flop is not to threatening? I always end up getting into trouble in that situation. One more thing, Can someone tell me what IMO stands for because I can't figure it out Last edited by RazzleDazzle : 7th August 2008 at 1:40 AM.

I play limit O8, and I raise a lot more than just A2 hands, especially at the fishy HORSE tables I play at. Players will call with so much retarded junk, that it doesn't make sense *not* to exploit that by charging them more. I raise any combination of A2, A3, or 23 that has a strong chance of playing for high as well.

The ONLY hand you can raise with pre flop in Om 08 is A2 because it's the nut lo draw. however, I never raise pre because as said previous there are to many variables, if it's late in tourney or in a ring game however is a different story, raiser may have AA playing to take the high hand, so think out why the raise? It amazes me how many players chase the lo for a split pot. eg. pot is 1800 and villan bets the pot, you have A2rag rag, and board is K38, pot is 3600 and 1800 for you to call, looks good at 1st cause your getting 2-1 on your money to call, your actually betting 1800 to win 1800 and ur not even even money to catch, dumb call, fold.

in my opinion, never raise omaha hi hands even they are AAKKds or AAQJds, or weak low hands like A2/3 smallpair ds, A2/3 small connectors ds except HU. u may raise if you are sure to scare others and play with single opponent. thats way to be in the payout structure. then no worries about bad luck. the only hand to raise is not A2xx, they are AA23, AA24, AA34.

re: Omaha H/L Preflop Raises poker A2 is quite overvalued in O8, in my opinion. Now A23 or A24 is much more useful, especially with some chance at the high. In loose games, I would be willing to raise with good hands for high, like AAJT, suited or double suited. Large connectors are actually very valuable in O8 for the simple reason that they rarely split. When you make broadway in O8, you will usually win the whole pot. High hands can be quite profitable to play if you are good postflop.
