Number maniacs
Hey guys.....
You ever seen those guys in a game or on TV who know their odd percentages perfectly within 2 seconds of seeing their cards and someone elses or the flop and all that...is that just from experience, or is there a magic formula for calculating odds? and i'm not talking about pot odds or anything like that...just % to win...thanks again guys... |

Experience. Seeing the same hands over and over and over. Mostly it has to do with knowing your outs when you're 4 to a flush or a straight on the Turn then the River and simply comparing them to the odds the pot is laying you. Once you have about 10 different scenarios memorized as far as your outs and odds of making your hand, you have most of it figured out. I have been debating on whether or not to post a chart of sorts on odds and percentages of common situations, I may do it now that someone has posted this kind of question. Look for it in the Strategy section tonight later or tomorrow early.

the best way i do it is to if they need 1 or 2 cards. because to cards is always 1% if they need two of the same card, and kinda 2%(more1.56) if they don't.
otherwise you count all the cards that help and multiply by 2 for one street and 4 for 2. examples real quik four to a flush on the flop. you have nine outs multiply that by the streets so 36% to the river and 18% to the turn. now this isn't exact as it is really 37% and 17% percent but it is really close for a quik count. |

I dont know if any of you guys have ever played darts. Learning the finishing throws initally is very difficult, then one day your have to finish on 45 and you throw 13 double 16 without even thinking about it !!!
The odds in poker are very similar, eventually it will come nearly automatically to you (!!! still not at that stage but getting there !!) Practice practice and if you play enough you wont need any sort of chart, it will just come . |

You should simply memorize the odds with both 1 and 2 cards to come. Start with open ended straight, flush deaws and gut shots.
IN order open straight 2 card 2.18:1 1 card 4.75:1, 4Flush 2 card 1.86:1 1 card 4.11:1, gutshot 2 card 5.07:1 1 card 10.5:1. Start with memorizing those cause you NEED to know them regardless of the type of hold'em you play. |
