notes on players??

wanted to know about the notes that are made about players to define their style of play .. it works well? how are these notes? thanks!

LIke to make notes when I see someone playing well that I might have seen there ID before. Chances are you see them more than once you will see them a few times again. This true if you play the same SnG's and Tourneys at the same time. If you get in a hand early and have info you gathered or paid for on previous match it can help determine your decession. I try to keep them short. It's alway nice when you see the prompt on a player for notes and it helps you out on a hand.

I make lots of notes. If you show a hand down, and it's not basically standard play, I'll write something about it. If I'm in a hand with you later, I open up the notes to see what I thought about your play before.

If you're dangerous, you're color coded red. If you spew chips, you're gold (and my best friend).

I've taken notes during a live tourney before, not all the time but they have helped me. The notes would be mistakes by other players that I picked up on, mistakes by me (playing a hand wrong) and also general notes on players overall play.

Online I take notes all the time.

Overall they help and give reminders for me. I am getting up there in age. lol

Probably the most important part of my online notes is to date them, say what the game was and how many hands. Notes on someone from months ago, at a different limit with only a few hands are of limited use.

I tend to keep the notes fairly general - calling station DON'T BLUFF; solid TAG; clueless and so on. I rarely depend on notes for a critical decision - more usually just to get a feel of whether I can steal their blinds, c-bet with air etc.

I am also aware that people can change their style from one table to the next - I reckon there will be notes on me saying 'will limp with ATC' and others saying 'very tight, only plays premiums.'

I make more of an effort to take notes on players I expect to play against again - i.e., multitabling regs. I use a HUD, which gives me most of the basic info I need on playing style, so the kinds of notes I take have more to do with how types of situations are played - i.e., does the player bet naked flush draws aggressively, how fast is he/she playing a set, how does he/she play a bluff, what hands does the player ch/r flop w, etc.

I take notes on every player I sit at a table with. At the very least I put their screen name in my note section. I play on the Cake network and people can change their screen names over and over. With my notes I'll always know who they are no matter how many times they change their name.

I take notes on about half the people I play...mostly hand ranges, betting patterns and especially what makes them tilt.

I've found that notes help me a lot when I need to make a tough call on someone. I like short notes like "Plays Ax" and "Plays every hand early" dating as someone suggested is smart.

One unfortunate issue i recently found, the notes are kept on YOUR COMPUTER! Not online. When my HD failed and I had to star tover, all my notes were gone This was on Poker Stars, I'm not sure that my notes at FT and UB are gone....

For FullTilt, the file you need to back-up is user_nick.xml -- you ought to find it in the programfiles/fulltilt folder.

Adopted a new laptop recently and played on it without any notes for a ~week making sure the adoption was going to stick. Lifted the file from the old desktop and BOOM, all the notes are there. It would be a real bummer file to lose, definitely worthy of back-up. I keep insane notes and my file is just a little over a MB. It will usually fit on a single floppy

That's good to know. I always assumed the notes were stored by the poker site. I'll keep this in mind the next time I look to upgrade my computer.

^^good to know! I keep rediculous amounts of notes on players myself. I write down every hand I have seen them showdown, and add anything out of the norm that I have seen them do. It has helped me before, I use what I have picked up on the player since watching him this session, and any notes as a little bonus.
I had always wondered how much space on my pc the notes took up, Thanks Qwerrk! I will defenitly be backing those files up just incase!

I generally keep track of the following things:

1. What kind of table/date I played them.
2. What kind of hands they play.
3. What kind of player they are (tight-aggressive, loose, wild, etc.)

Notes are very very important if u r going to play in the same group[s or games...
they may not be helpful instantly but they do really help you in future games...
And by taking notes, i usually keep track of few things...
one, wat type of player are they?
two, wats their type of bluffing?
three, are they a limper?
four,with wat hands they raise?

good advice .. is a tool that will help it to not fall into the graces of the adversaries, but also care you need with the variety of their game!

Notes on players are very important. However, you have to remmember that people, as they should, mix their game up. So what may seem like a donk move when it was called, may in fact been them just testing the waters to see what you will call. I know I do this to know what to bet when I have a good hand. So in other words, mmake sure you watch their play and modify the notes accordingly.

Well usually i take notes on a player after they have done a few of the same plays twice or more. For example: Limping in with AA or other Pocket pairs, Slow playing trips and trying to trap, If they check raise alot. Those are just a few of the things i note when playing with people at a table. Alot of the time if you are in a tourny you dont get to get a feel for a table much because you are moved alot. But it does help if you ever play against that player in the future
