next level in half a month?

Hey everyone. Over the years of my playing poker online ive never applied any form of bankroll management into my play and as a result i've lost all of small deposits time and time again. With that said, I'm finally beginning to take bankroll management seriously. I'm practicing what i read in an article on thepokerbank.com about bankroll management. According to my $30 initial deposit i recently made. i'm only allowed to play the $0.05/$0.10 Limit games...So i've been playing ONLY these games and staying away from ALL OTHER games(no one dollar sit n gos, no micro stakes no limit ring games). i've been doing quite while in my opinion wiht my play compared to how i used to play, i play for an hour and ten minutes today and profited 49 cents. I know this will take forever just playing the one table. I understand that multi tabling will increase my win rate so i can expect to make maybe $1.00 or $2.00 an hour. I dont want to have to high of expections so i'll start there....I've experimented multi tabling 4 tables and lost 4 dollars. and when i tried 3 or 2 tables i was just able to break even after my session. Any sugesstion on grinding these stakes. I mean i do good on one table and maybe 2. Should i just multi table 2 or 3 for a week or so and then add see if i do better. I felt i was focused with my session today i made 49 cents after that hour which felt good to not lose this time. I'm gonna try again later with 2 tables and see how it goes down. I think with that 4 table game last time i tried i just wasnt paying attention enough. maybe i just try and focus a little more when adding more tables....It just that i wanna start leveling up in half a month maybe a little longer...I dont wanna stay at this level for an entire month..I wanna do whatever it is that i need to do to grind at this stake and double my roll to 60 bucks so i can start on the 10c/20c limit games

Welcome to the site, you've been here a couple months, but I've yet to see you.

First off, I know some of the BRM sites say that 300 Big Bets are sufficient for LHE, but it is still fairly low, I would say upping it to more around 450 Big Bets would be a little more adequate for protecting your roll. With as small of a roll as you have, there really isn't much room to work with.

As far as your playing goes. Slow and steady. In that hour and ten minutes you probably didn't play more than about 90-100 hands, so you were winning ~5ptBB/100. Not sure if you know what that means, so if you don't, look up win rates. 5ptBB/100 is a decent WR for LHE, granted, that was only one session. What you really need to work on if you're really looking to progress is the ability to multi-table. I personally don't understand how anyone could have a problem playing at least 4 tables at a time, especially a slow moving game like LHE. You don't have to watch every move that is going on at the table and make observations based on them(actually, you should be doing post-session reviews and making some notes then).

You saying "I dont wanna stay at this level for an entire month" is a scary statement, because that shows me that you just want to move up as fast as possible without putting in the work. You shouldn't expect to be able to move up a level every couple weeks, it isn't going to happen. With the current ability you're at right now, I would say to stay at this level for quite some time until you polish your skills up a little better(btw, I am not saying that you are not good at poker, I have no clue about that given my info). You're only going to lose more when you move up in levels like you have in the past. Lke I've said in the past, you don't go from learning how to shoot a free-throw to being in the NBA in a month, it takes a lot of time, effort and frustration. Good luck bro.

The reason i've said i wanna move up leves in half a month because i wanna start getting up to reasonable stakes when my bankroll allows it so i could start making some money here and there from online poker. i've lost hundreds of dollars playing poker online over the last few years. I have never been able to make one withdrawl ever. So now for once in my life im trying to apply bankroll management to get through these micro stakes by multi tabling with at least 350 big bets or so and then increse it to the 450 big bets for whatever games im playing once i pass the 100 dollar mark. I'm a pretty decent player not the best i recently made 200 bucks playing the 25c/50c NL games where you sit down with 50 bucks as the minumun. but then i donked it all away every last penny and had to make another deposit for 30 bucks . anyway i just really wanna win and at least make one withdrawl i would have to withdrawl at least 800 dollars or more to break even from playing poker from all the deposits i've lost over the years. I guess you could say im determined or a moron for depositing so much and never getting a return on my investment. Then again, never did i practice BR so i'm turning over a new leaf and see how it goes because im sick and tired of always losing my deposing and never once being able to withdraw. So that is why i want to multi table and grind though the micros so i can play some decent games were players and better and i can think about hands and outplay opponents instead of just waiting for top 5 hands and folding all others and getting called down with junk and the other opponets winning. I multi table 6 tables the other night. and lost 2 dollars and i was playing pretty tight i'm just glad i didnt lose all the 15 dollars in play (2.50 at six tables or 25 big bets at 6 tables) I know that i need to put in the work but im sure theres a lot of people who dont wanna stay at micro stakes for a long time 2cent 5 cent blinds. its a hell of a grind trying to do that in the limit games. but why and i doing the limit games? to stay safe and protect my roll. So im trying very hard i'm gonna keep multi tabling the 0.05/0.10 limit games with 6 tables and hopefully if im lucky get through it in a month. It jsut that it gets frustrating people call you down with junk and i dont wanna deposit more money to play higher level games because that defeats the whole purpose and thats just me donating more money to pokerstas and all the players on pokerstars i'm tired of donating money to everyones accounts. Its just that most people dont wanna play this way and your saying i dont wanna do things right. most people will take there 30 bucks and play the 1 or 2 dollar sit n gos but you are not even properly rolled for a 1 dollar sit n go with 30 buck bank roll. becasue you need 44 dollars to properly rolled for the 1 dollar sit n gos.....i'm tempted to play the $3 NL sit n gos but i know if i lose im not properly rolled for them all i can play safely is 5/10cent limit and thats it which requires you to grind like crazy. it jsut gets me so made when i play 6 tables for 2 hours and still lose two bucks. no profit at all. its horrible

OK, I have a couple more things to say about your dilemma, but one thing first, can you please use paragraphs? It just makes it a little hard to read through one huge block of text.

Once again, I have no clue how you play, so I am not sure on how you are as a poker player, but there are a lot of things that you are doing wrong as far as your game is concerned. Now I know you mainly play limit, but... You should never buy-in for the minimum. It is very rare that a short-stacker is going to get anywhere in the long run. It screws up your fold equity and it throws any kind of betting leverage you have out the window. Any game you're playing in you should be buying in for the full amount so you can get the most in return when you have the best hand and also have room to push people with your stack.

"If I were playing against someone who knew ANYTHING about poker, they would have folded there and I would have won, so I need to play the bigger games where people know that..." Search around the forums and you will see it over and over again that that is the absolutely wrong thing to be thinking. There are huge fish at every level that you will play poker at in your life. People will make stupid calls, people will make great calls. If you can't beat the huge fish at the micros, there is no way in hell that you will be able to beat the fish at the higher levels. If you don't believe me, search around the forums and you will find constant reinforcement of what I just said.

You're right, no one wants to be playing the micros forever, but if that's where you belong, then that's where you belong. If you are losing there, you will be losing elsewhere as well. Hone in your skills down there and really learn the ins and outs of poker and you will be able to move up in due time. Rushing it is only going to continue you on the streak that you've been on up until now... going busto and reloading. The same thing will happen if you go on a rampage and decide to play your $3 SnG's.

One thing that might help you a little bit is something that I heard someone say a while ago, that they don't think of their playing in terms of money, but in BB's. They won x amount of BB's today. They have x amount of BB's in their account, etc. It helps take the pressure off of the monetary aspect of poker. Which you should be doing anyway. If you are constantly worrying about the fact that you aren't making any money, then you're going to be playing scared and won't be playing your best.

I hope some of this information helps and that you follow some of it.

Sorry dude, you have come at this from totally the wrong angle.

You should not ask us how you can move up as soon as possible.

You should be asking how to improve your game so you have the skills to be able to beat higher games.

The goal in poker is not to win, not to prove others you are better then them, but to make the best decisions you can with the information available and to make yourself better each time you play. With this the winning will follow.

Use your BR as a guide to which level you should be at, not as a rule. By this I mean that if you are playing well at the level you are at and your BR can support it, then sure, go up a level.

Let say for argeements sake you have a huge BR, (through a big deposit), but you might not be ready to play at a higher level, even if your BR can support it.
