| New ways to play aces PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com BB (€10.45) UTG (€4.94) Hero (MP) (€9.55) CO (€12.74) Button (€11.52) SB (€18.55) Preflop: Hero is MP with A , A![]() 1 fold, Hero bets €0.30, 2 folds, SB raises to €1, 1 fold, Hero raises to €2.68, 1 fold Total pot: €2.10 | Rake: €0 Since moving up to 10NL it seems aces don't get AIPF as easy. I think the difference between peoples 3betting and stacking off range is a lot bigger in 10NL than 5 and 2NL. This means I need new ways to play aces. As with the hand above, is it ever ok to flat the 3bet? If so are we treating it as the nuts on the flop and stacking off most of the time (unless ofcourse its a dirty wet board). Thoughts and tips appreciated. |

| Theres really no wrong or right way to play them. I find sometimes raising 3 or 4 times the BB works well, but you'll always get those random calls and someone will hit the flop, then your in trouble. I think its best to get your chips in early unless you have position on an aggressive player who will build up the pot for you and bet into you. |

The right way to play AA varies with the opponents you're facing but as with all premium pairs the rule of thumb is 4xBB + 1BB for every limper. |

| re: New ways to play aces poker In this hand you'll be in position so flatting the SB 3bet is fine imo. By 4 betting you're folding all his AQ/TT or something like that range, plus maybe some of his AK/JJ type of range as well. It's player dependent, obv. If he's aggressive and esp if he reads you as aggressive he'll be willing to get AK in since he'll be OOP, but if he's not, then you're folding out a chunk of his 3bet range that you dominate by 4 betting. |

| if you would only stack off with aces or kings, then it would be best to flat there (on occasion, at least), since when you do 4bet, everyone will know what you have, right? that said, you should also perhaps do it with other hands, which would show your AA 4-bets get called a bit more often. |

Some questions would be what hands are we 4betting? Can we ever 4bet fold 100B deep or do we just have to play hands that have decent equity in 5bet pots (such as 56s, 78s etc) 78s is 41% vs. AK so even if I have to call i'd have good equity. What kind of 4bet size should I do 100BB deep (for example in the above hand I can probably 4bet fold as I only have 26BB invested). Finally if someone calls the 4bet (really rare IMO) what kinds of flops am I stacking? This could be a good discussion.. Last edited by jbbb : 24th August 2011 at 11:00 PM. |
