| New to cash games I'm mostly SnG player but, just made the decision to add some cash game play to my arsenal. I'd be playing at $2NL. I got a couple questions about some strategy against specific opponents. PokerStars - $0.02 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 4 players Hand converted by PokerTracker 3 SB: $2.58 BB: $2.40 UTG: $2.19 Hero (BTN): $3.07 SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02 Pre Flop: ($0.03) Hero has 8♦ J♦ fold, Hero raises to $0.06, fold, BB calls $0.04 Flop: ($0.13, 2 players) Q♣ A♣ 7♥ BB checks, Hero bets $0.09, BB calls $0.09 Turn: ($0.31, 2 players) 3♥ BB checks, Hero bets $0.22, BB calls $0.22 River: ($0.75, 2 players) K♦ BB checks, Hero bets $0.55, fold Hero wins $0.72 BB was calling a lot of my pre-flop raises. I want to know if triple barreling is gonna work at these stakes. Are most players gonna spew chips away chasing draws? Or will they play more straightforward passive, calling down with good hands? I realize that it's going to depend on each specific villain, but I guess my real question is about the quality of play at the smallest stakes. |

It won't work often enough to make it profitable at 2nl. Sure there are players who will call 3 streets with a draw and give up when they miss but alot of players will call you all the way down if they catch ANY part of the flop. It really is villain dependent. Look at their stats. If a villain is the typical 2nl calling station with a VPIP of 60+ you probably can't get them to fold, ever. Take advantage of that by value towning the crap out of them with your good hands. If someone calls your preflop bet AND your c-bet you're probably better off check/folding on the turn without some kind of hand or lots and lots of outs. |

| re: New to cash games poker Generally, and I hate saying things like this because there's still so many different types of players and you should play the opponent. That said generally they will call down with bad hands. That's why we value bet so much and can go 3 streets with TPTK. If they raise they usually have it unless he's been raising lots obv. Basically it's full of passive calling stations but remember to play the player. |

| The 3♥ is a terrible card to barrel. You have almost no equity in this hand so Id just give up unless you have specific reads. Like Fx and LC said, value townig your opp with strong hands is the best way to beat the micros. Bet until you face resistance and the re-evaluate your hand. Somtimes you can continue with just TPTK or sometimes youll have to throw away 2 pais hands. It always depends in who youy're playing. |
