need tips on sit & go's

should i still play tight even in a sit & go like i was in to nights game or not let me know K guys/gals.
even tho i do good on them i still would like to here your tips.

I play tight in the beginning and loosen up lil' by lil' as the tourny progresses--depending on the size of the tourny and my chip stack-

play however you want, but stick to that particular style until you are confident to mix it up a bit.
I run from super-TAG to super-LAG, and am a winning player at sngs/mtt

I usually bubble at 1 table SnGs so I may not be a lot of help but what i have learned from this group is that if you are short stack on the bubble you have to take a lot of risks and try to win blinds. I have gotten into the money more this way. I have also had some success with trying to wait for that perfect hand too but if you M zone is no good than waiting might not be an option.

I play super tight at the start and then when the blinds start to become more substantial I start to use my table image to steal them, then if I get caught making a move then I try and use this to get my bigger hands paid of.

cool thanks, my table image will help me then. And i do loosen up after the all in fest and mix it up from time to time to keep them thinking.

i dont know whick sit and go you play.... however if 33% of the people cashed ( 9 person sit and go) you should play a tight/loose play at the beggining... what is tight/loose??? fold in the most cases but in the hands you get something goodyou should bet lot of chips.... why?? to scared your opponents and have respect in the table... also playing smart will mak you ITM in the most cases. if there are only 4 players and 3 cashed... you are in 2nd place with a good chipstack.... the 4th with very few chips play all in trying to double up, you have jj. the chipleader raise half of your stack... a fold here will make you ITM but sometimes its difficult for some people to fold good hands... do it if its necesary

most of the sit&gos i play are one table, 10 players to a table and 2 tables to 10 players to a table...
And it seams you even have an alliner at some of them.... witch just helps take out some of them

When I play SnGs on Bodog I notice that players are much more likely to go all-in in the first few levels. So unless I am holding AA KK QQ I usually just sit back and fold until the blinds go up and the idiots are gone. On PokerStars players are much more tight and usually 8 or 9 players are left after 5 or 6 levels of play.

tight is right early on, since you have a larger stack in relation to the blinds, then later on you should find good spots to shove as you get near the money

I agree with tight early. I dont mind someone jumping out to a big chipstack if it means that two or three players stacks have shrinked and forced them into making moves they wouldnt normally make with a health stack. Pick these guys off and then loosen up as blinds go up.

The best way to beat the SNGs are to play super tight early blinds and loosen up mid-late blinds just like everyone says..

From one of the best SNG players out there, collin moshman, suggest when blinds are still below 50-100 fold almost everything except JJ+,AQs + from early position..so that means fold your AJo and your pocket 99s and lower..and when your in the later position play your TT+ , AJs + ...so basically during early blinds play super nitty like that..its tempting to see flops with suited connectors and smaller pairs but in a SNG just dont do it! its just not worth it when your trying to beat one table.

in mid blinds(50/100) you still want to be tight like early blinds in early position but in late position start opening with 88s + and some suited broadways ..

late blinds in later position raise with 77s+, broadways, any suited ace ..considering you have a good stack..

that is just the very basic of beating an SNGs..after you know to be tight early and loose late.. you need to know when to shove and when to fold, this is what is going to take you to the next level..

when you have a stack size of 10 BBs or lower you NEVER want to just raise...if you have a good hand just push all your chips in ..

conisdering you have a stack size around 10 blinds..your pushing and folding range should depend on your position..as you get to later position your shoving range should be wider ...

another very important thing that all pro sng players know is how to play in the small blind...when everyone folds to you in the small blind and stack sizes are around 10 blinds..you can shove and pocket pair, broadway, suited ace, A9o+ and doing this will make your a long term winning player..and if you dont even have 10 blinds, lets say you have about 2-8 blinds..just shove any two.. you can have even 23o or 72o and shoving hear is a profitable move..

from anywhere in any position when you only have 5 blinds or lower shove any 2..REGARDLESS of your cards since you do NOT want to be blinded out..shove with any 2 cards when you still have a little bit of fold equity..

and thats pretty much the blueprints in beating sngs..of course you cant always win due to bad luck but using the strategy above will have you coming out a winning player..if you have any questions just lemme know! Ok!

I'll assume you're playing in S&G's with a $10 buy-in or less.

In my experience you can practically fold your way into the money. So, especially in the early stages, tight is right. Ofcourse, in any no-limit game you're looking to flop sets and double up.

Before the flop I try and fold everything except pairs TT+ and AK. I'll see cheap flops in multi-way pots with any pair and AXs. I shy away from unsuited face cards and suited connectors.

Don't bluff EVER! Wait for good hands and bet them. At this level of play it's very rare that you'll get a better hand to fold.

Usually you'll be fine playing this style with a stack of 1000+. If the cards don't fall and you get down to 700 or so it's time to look at all in moves to steal the blinds or get lucky and double.

yes that would be so $5.00 and less And would it be worth going in to a buy in of 1.00 .50 game with only 70 players in it and the top 8 paying out??? i ask coz at night on UB you do not see a lot of players it the MTTs.
can i get your view on that???

I really don't know. I don't play much on UB.

If you're properly banked for the $5 S&G's (around $200) then I don't see how playing in the $1 multi's could hurt.

I have enjoyed reading the various opinions on this subject and look forward to try them in my own way today in a little session on PokerStars starting with a 18-player $6.50 (Turbo ) SnG. Hopefully I can make some money!

Play tight at the beginning for sure. Otherwise you open yourself up to all manner of bad beats and suckouts. I loosen up a bit after the first few people are knocked out. I really change my play style when the table is down to the last 3-4.

I try and play tight just to get the crazy ones who play anything out and then loosen up when blinds start going up

thanks for them tips all i did a sit&go .25 + .03.
And nailed it 1st and 2nd gives a ticket to play a 5K game.
Was a 10 player game and i even took out the chip leader with AA from the button and stayed tight in the game and i even did some trapping....
So look out i am getting better now....

I play to win. I play for third place which is what most start to pay. I play pretty tight til the field finds me in the money. Then I play somewhat lose and play for the win.

This is a tough one as I've been caught in lots of sit&go's where I try to play real tight waiting for the A-K, AA, KK, and it never comes. Also I like playing fast, so the turbo tables become more unpredictable.

Generally I try to play tight for the first 10 hands just to get a feel for the table, and then I adjust to see how all the other players are doing.

I like playing a little bit more loose and raising on tight tables, and playing tight when everyone else is tight. The former lets me steal pots, while the latter helps me to survive longer while everyone is beating each other up.

This is how I play them too. In the beginning, a couple of crazy people will usually make ridiculously large raises and try to get all their chips in and get off to a quick chip lead. Getting involved with that kind of play is generally a quick ticket out of the tournament.

you have to be somewhat tight but in these sit and gos where blinds go up every 10 min you have to get in there and gamble.
