Need Help with rules!!!

Hi guys new to the forum but I am desperate for help with a scenario that occurred in a no-limit texas holdem game.

Here is the scenario

3 people left in the tournament and I am on the button. I go all in and the small and big blind both call me. The flop comes up Queen/Five/Two and the small blind looks over at the big blind and says let's check it down the big blind does not respond.

Can someone tell me if this is considered cheating or please show me how the hand would have been played out. I need all and any evidence.

Thanks for your help

in my book that would be considered collusion which is a form of cheating, but unless you have screenshot of table chat nothing you can do about it.

This is going to be the problem - if the big blind made no response, then it can't be proved that any collusion took place. The big blind has actually done the right thing in not responding, by the way.

If the big blind said "OK, we'll check it down" then it would clearly have been collusion. The action that could have been taken would have depended on the rules of the casino (assuming this is live).

In any event, if this is live you need to speak to either the dealer or the floor manager / tournament director at the time and ask for a ruling. Online, the site administrators can go back and look at chat logs etc., but live if the floor isn't called over at the time, there's not much they can do.

Okay but wouldn't discussing a strategy during a hand be considered cheating?

It was certainly unethical of the small blind to make the suggestion, and depending on the rules of the casino there might still be some action that can be taken against them.

But collusion can't be proven in this case because the big blind (correctly) didn't reply.

Point is, if it's in a live game you need to say something to either the dealer or the tournament director right away and they'll take the appropriate action.

OzExorcist nailed it. It is an unwritten rule in that situation to check it down but it is not to be discussed during the hand..............
