My Problem. You got it? So, recently I've been re-immersing myself in the poker scene, only online however. I've been playing tournaments, SNGs, and cash games. Well my problem is nothing new, I just thought I'd share. The SNGs and tournaments are going very well for me. I'm making the payouts and winning the SnGs. Well... Cash games are another story. Playing .10-.25 and .25-.50 PL Omaha H/L I make great money. Until that 5 minute period where I go on Tilt and my $60 gain turns into a $60 deficit. Ugh. Ex. My strategy: Play 3 tables, bring $20 to each - grind it out and play tight. Works until I go on tilt and before I realize it- I'm dead on 2 tables and cripple on the last one. I made the promise today I would only play SNGs and Tournaments - NO CASH GAMES because though it can prove successful - I never realize when exactly I'm on tilt, and by the time I do, its much too late. Anyone else had a similar experience?

Yes... I too show a profit at SnG's but lose at cash games. One of the problems i think I have from the transcition is that in SnG's youre battling rising blinds all the time and forced to make moves that you dont have to make in cash games. Ill play a SnG or two and then I'll go to cash games and catch myself trying to make those same moves and it's not working at these tables. At SnG's its there tourney life youre talking about... and at Cash they'll just make the call more times than not and buy back in if theyre on the losing end. Goodluck, I hope we both get a handle on it because I really like the freedom of cash games better than the SnG's and MTT's.

I haven't tried to play cash in a long time because of this. I haven't had many winning sessions so I just gave up on it. I have done well in SNGs in the past but I seem to be doing better at MTTs these days. Really like playing satelites and unregistering from the tourneys when I win the ticket then play more MTTs with the winnings.

re: My Problem. You got it? poker my problem i would find in cash games is cuz i play limit poker i would win a couple hundred playing 3-6 then i would move up to 5-10 and if i won that i would move to 10-20 heads up and sometimes it would be fine but then the person would reload and reload and before i knew it he would have his money and mine cuz i have a hard time walking away when im up

I have a similar problem, however last couple of days i put on practice a new strategy i set limits for either loosing or winning lets say that if a loose a certain amount of money per day i quit playing for the day. The same with winning if i get to certain amount on the tables up i quit playing. That what i can easily take more control over my bankroll.

It is very frustrating when you play well, win a few hands, build up your stack, and then boom-your all-in bet with AK loses to A7 and you lost your buy- in and are at zero after all that hard work. People may call more readily in a cash game because they can simply reload. In SnG's and MTT's they are risking their tournament life, so they may fold those inferior hands and you may not get sucked out on as often. No good answer except to continue to play correctly and you will win in the long run. Of course, if you go on Tilt, that means you are not playing correctly and your results will suffer.

Been there, done that, lol. You lose a couple of buy-ins at your usual stakes, move up, lose a couple more, move up again, get it all in with pocket kings and lose to A,7 off, then rebuy, get it all in with A.K and lose to pocket 4's. Another rebuy and you're all in with your set and lose to a flush on the river. Before you know it, you're on your last beer and your bankroll is gone! | Before each session write down a list of how many sng's you want to play. Only play that amount, and turn off your computer when you have done this. Whether you have won or lost, you will be less likely to go on tilt. If you can't play cash games without tilting, just don't play them. Different strokes for different folks. I am better at cash that sngs but I too lack the discipline required to not to go on tilt with 100-200 blinds behind me in cash games. |

Everyone has gotten well of topic, but as for the OP... I am glad to hear I am not the only one flushing cash down the toilet that I won at tournament poker while sitting at cash tables. I don't understand how I could be so bad at ring games...I mean, I win a decent amount at tournaments. But I am the biggest fish at the cash games; and yet I still find myself sitting down to play. You would think I could learn my lesson.

re: My Problem. You got it? poker I have figured out and had success with my findings that I will hit a hand in the first 5 hands I get on a table. I would double-up within the first 5 hands and leave. If I stayed more then 30 hands on the table I would evently lose it all
