My Freeroll strategy !!!

Sounds similar to the start that i use for large number entry tournaments. My whole goal is to just stay alive till the blinds are worth stealing.
The whole trick is not to get called, IMHO.
Too give you an example, I have been playing nothing but the 2000 player freeroll tournaments on reputed poker room lately and one of the stats that can be requested is how many hands one played up to 2000 hands. Here are mine:

Hold'em (Real Money):

2000 hands played and saw flop:
- 95 times out of 244 while in small blind (39%)
- 142 times out of 250 while in big blind (57%)
- 481 times out of 1506 in other positions (32%)
- a total of 719 times out of 2000 (36%)

Pots won at showdown - 95 out of 225 (43%)
Pots won without showdown - 295

As you can see I won 15% of the total hands without being called down. Lately I have been playing around with going all in with the coin flip hands, and as you can see here my coin is slightly defective by 7%!

u really just have to play tight and aggressive in freerolls u cant get too much read on ur opponents because u get switched around to different tables a lot

The key to these is to play pretty tight as most of these players are bad or reckless. I wouldn't even bother trapping as there are ton of calling stations. Just bet your hands for value and you'll get paid off.

Here's my startegy: double or triple up quick and wait out the donkfest by being very selective and try not to go allin before the flop because u know there is someone ther itching to pull the trigger with his J2 only because it is suited! lol

2000 hands played and saw flop:
- 95 times out of 244 while in small blind (39%) too high imo
- 142 times out of 250 while in big blind (57%) too high imo
- 481 times out of 1506 in other positions (32%) a bit too high
- a total of 719 times out of 2000 (36%) semi-laggy

Pots won at showdown - 95 out of 225 (43%) - here you should have >50%
Pots won without showdown - 295 against opponents realizing what you're doing this won't help.

As you can see I won 15% of the total hands without being called down. Lately I have been playing around with going all in with the coin flip hands, and as you can see here my coin is slightly defective by 7%!
I think you are playing too laggy and need to tighten up, especially from the blinds.

You other guys need to read this carefully because in the long run this will be the easiest way to succeed.

Doesn't matter - still take notes on them - you'll probably see them again in the next FR .

Isn't that the guy we're waiting for ? Take notes.

Might work in early stages - towards the end of the tourney you might not get any callers and lose a ton of value.

re: My Freeroll strategy !!! poker

its easy to read freerolls, stick around a table for 10 hands and ull see what kind of players they are. Mixing up your play is key, sometimes playing tight isnt gonna get u a big enough stack to last unto the top 100 and if u do ull be more likely to have to go all-in everytime u play a hand.

There will always be times where a small pot that ull be able to steal and checking in your position in the tournament will always come in handy in making your decision

freerolls has been a pain for me, getting in the final table for the top 3 players win 11Tand the dvd( ftp points i think) then getting carddead in $100 ones.

im terribly unlucky in free rolls.

Ive gotten within inches of cash positions to be knocked out by turn and river four of a kinds over my flop three of a kind.

And i find it awfully disconcerting to get that far and be killed by the most unlikely bad luck.

Personally, I play freeroll tournaments the same way I paly a buy-in tournament. The only difference would be the range of hands your opponents will play. Generally, in freerolls, your opponents will be playing a much wider range of hands than your opponents would in a buy-in tournament. This means AK and AQ much less valuable if the don't pair the flop.

Just to add my 2 cents. You do have to mix it up indeed but it helps to take a shot or two with a coinflip. It helps your image showing you're willing to flip with say 88-QQ vs a KA and it helps you steal when the blinds get higher. Tight early is the key. Read the strat section on FRs here in CC. Nothing profound per say but great to keep you on track.

Whatever is said on strat, remember to adjust your play to the environment. Some plays don't work on certain players so don't overly bluff or try tricky plays on weaker players. It may be a FR but you need every edge and as you get closer to the bubble/final table... pay attention more to the tables.

I like to take coin flips in the freerolls becouse most of the time you are getting called anyways but in a freeroll try not to bluff at all and sit back and wait until about half of the field is gone and then most of the calling stations are knocked out. Then you can attempt to steal blinds and antes, Becouse most of the players that made it that far are the better players and they are there to win not just to go in and hope to get lucky on flips the whole way through the tourny.
