Mtt final tablers please read!!

Hello again and thank you so much for your previous replies. I have been frequenting the final 25 players in Mtt's a little lately. When it gets down to the final 2 or 3 tables it seems like changes take place at this point. People call a lot. And when they are reraised they almost always call . What should be my strategy at this point.. A) do i tighten up like crazy and let the blinds whack my stack or B) do i try to really start putting on the pressure trying to steal and resteal the big blinds and antes. It just seems like someone always calls me when i try this. This is all considering I am in the top 10 when it gets down to 3 tables or less. I am just trying to figure out why i always drop out of the top 10. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

In Phil Gordons Green book he asks a series of questions before each hand which have helped me lately in the micro buyin tourneys-2nd in the fetguson and 7th in the daily dollar rebuy recently.
Is this the best situation for me to get my hand in or will I get a better chance just now?
If I think I have an edge or I think I can get someone with an edge to fold I will be three bet stealing.

Im getting better at this stage of the game just by asking myself those questions and really paying attention to endgame concepts of harrington.

Pay more attention to the other stack sizes than you have ever done. Think about what kind of cards they would want to play..

e.g. .. if they are short stacked and in good position.. they will push with a huge range... But if have a massive lead and in early.. what will they play with..

your cards are less important at this stage, its about chip stacks and position.

I actually don't do a whole lot of blind stealing UNTIL these late stages. If you notice, a good number of pots in these late stages don't go past the flop, and a lot of the ones that do either end with check-check or an all-in. If it was a big tournament you can garauntee that everyone still sitting is either playing good, running good, or both. So there going to be a lot less likely to want to donk off there chips. Try to pick up as many pots as you can BEFORE the turn. You have to be active to survive, and the more active you are the more likely you will be to get action when you have your monster.

Late in the tourney is when you really need to know your oppents. It's important to know who will give up there blinds w/o a fight. TRy to spot people who limp from early pos and fold to a bet. Look for spots where the agressive players and trying to make steal raises from pos and exploit them with a 3-bet.

Stack sizes are very important. You want to pick on medium stacks if at all possible. Around the bubbles you should be real aggro. Dont play scared, agression is rewarded late in mtts...just dont be dumb about it.

Unfortunately, there isn't any strategy for the end (2-3tables ) of a MTT, as I see it. (The basic strategy would be.. everyone is loose, you have to play tight. but why would you if the blinds are high and you want the win, not some extra $) Everyone is going for the win that's why they're willing to gamble more. BUT, from my experience from making top 15 or winning it, it's all about luck in the end. You need to win some coin flips and 1-2 suckouts.
