Moving up in level or change structure?

I have been grinding it out playing 02/04 cent fixed limit lately and find I am getting much better.

I wasnt doing do hot at full ring so I moved to 6-max and my sucess rate is getting better. I feel that I will be ready to move up in levels based on my current BR in about a week or so as long as the wins keep coming. My question is should I stick with fixed limit and move to 05/10 or should I move my structure to PL or NL and play at similar stakes?

I'd stay at what you're good at. Nl/PL and Limit are two different monsters.

Cmon guys I am really looking for solid advice on this.

JiuJitsuBraz's advice is solid. The difference between Nl/PL and Limit is not minor, they are two very different beasts. Play what you enjoy and/or are good at. If you are good at Limit but stink at NL/PL but prefer NL (or vice versa) then hang back in the lower limits until your skills in the game of your choice improves enough to move up.

I agree that you should stick with what you are good at. I have a much harder time with PL vs. NL so I would move up in NL and not give a thought to PL. However, I am also better at full tables vs. 6-max as a rule. You said you are doing better at 6-max, so you should stick with that. If you don't continue your trend with the higher limits, you can always move back down until you have a bigger BR and want to attempt it again. A lot of people tend to try to move up too quickly, and their BR suffers and they can never get back on top. GL to you!

I am finding that I do best at limit 6-max. I do well at NL HU as well. If I have a bad session at 6-max I usually make it up with a few HU matches. That can be risky too though.

I think I will grind 02/04 for a few more weeks and then move to Limit 05/10

Well the key is to get up and out of those micro limits as soon as you can. I don't know which sites you play on but do yourself a favor and look at the rake difference between .02/.04 and .50/1. That's why I don't recommend playing at micro's for longer than it takes to learn the game.

If you're having success at limit (+1BB per hour over 5k hands or better) then stick with limit. Limit and Big Bet Poker aren't even the same game. If you're good at one then chances are you'll be horrible at the other.

If I was you I'd move up one level in Limit (with a bank of 300BB) but play some No Limit at the lowest stakes offered. That should be .01/.02 $2max. Play at both and track you results. If you make enough at NLHE to move up, then move up a level.

You should always do what makes you the most money.

What are your goals?

Are you trying to dominate a game? Maximize profit? Just have fun? Some combination of all these?

The thing with this switch is that there will be some new concepts to learn and it will take some work to make the switch, although at the micro levels it probably wont take to long with some work.

To be honest I have never really given limit poker too much thought (at least in hold'em, which is what I assume you are talking about) so I do not know how long it would take to adjust to the different type of play.

If you are trying to make the most profit I would think NLHE has a much larger base of players and in turn, many more fish. This is the game the public watches and thinks they can play. So making the most money will probably happen here, especially as you move up in stakes.

It all comes down to what you are comfortable with. I believe LHE is a good game to learn from, since you will see more hands go to showdown and can learn from seeing how people play different cards.

I would just try everything. Whatever you are comfortable with and enjoy the most is probably what you should play.

You are doing well in Limit Holdem at the moment... and you are thinking about changing to PL or NL holdem. First of all, your main goal is to make as much money as you can, but you also probably want to become a good NL Holdem player due to its popularity now-a-days. In order to be a good NL Holdem player you need to practice, but for that you need a bankroll, the likes of which you don't have yet. My advice to you is this... stay in L Holdem for the time being and probably raise your limit soon since the rake really kills you in micro. Once your bankroll is well build you could then go to play some micro NL Holdem but keep in mind that you will probably lose and not to go on tilt when you do decide to take the shot.
