Mid size flush hypothetical Say you are 3rd in chips at your table and well over the chip average and you get 87 of clubs on the BUT and you flop the flush draw. Also in the hand are the 2 bigger stacks. If it is checked to you do you bet or check? If the first to act bets and middle player calls, do you call or raise? If middle player bets do you call or raise with a player behind you? The Muppetteer

re: Mid size flush hypothetical poker Generally its 50/50 for me, if I detect a lot of weekness I will semi-bluff with a fush draw. Usually only about 1/2 to 3/4 of the pot. If I get raised big I will fold if not I will wait for the next card. Just taking another free card or check/calling a bet that gives me the correct odds to keep chasing the flush is also a fine move. It all depends on the table, when I play live the flush draw raise is pretty normal with the knuckleheads I usually play with.

Bet 1/2 the pot. If you check, you just gave the other players an opportunity to turn their hand into a flush also. Your bet should get potentials out of the game. At this point, you want them to know you have a flush, and worry about how high your flush is. Ifyou are called, then you see one more card and have to decide if your flush is better then the guy that called you. Is he a chaser, or a conservative player?
