mFTOPS 50+5 HORSE Event I've had my share of wins in HORSE tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $1.10 to $11. Could I get some tips as to strategy adjustments I might need to make for this higher buy-in game?

The higher buy-in game will usually consist of game specialists rather than your average retard. Its still the same games, your competition will just be better. As a result, you can stop nut peddling so much, and blind/ante stealing dynamics will become more important since players will actually fold once in a while. But really, its the same game as you've been playing. The main mistake players make when they move up in stakes is they out-level themselves. They get fancy play syndrome, and they make errors because they think their competition is suddenly thinking 40 levels higher, when usually they're not *that* much better than the previous stake level.

ty c9h13no3, advice sounds true. also it's way out of my BR, but I've learned alot and want to take a shot rather than playing the $1 HORSE on pokerstars for eternity. [Last few months my pokerstars ROI has been around 150% at the micro games, I tried to get a stake but nearly impossible if my Full Tilt stats are garbage right?] anyways, more advice welcome.

My main question is why you think you'd be +EV in a HORSE tournament. Do you really think you posses an average edge on most players in the HORSE rotation? I've got 10K+ hands of stud hi & stud 8 experience showing I'm a solid long term winner, and I've got what I consider a decent Razz game. But I don't think my LO8 game & LHE games are strong enough to bother risking $100+ on the big buy in HORSE tournaments yet. Make sure you're actually good at least 3 of the games first before you dive into playing the mixed ones.

sounds like you might be more experienced than me c9. I think might possess an edge, but if you don't think you do then maybe i'm overconfident. I know i certainly have an edge in the 1.10 horse mtt, as when i'm playing decently I can usually always place and final table quite frequently. And the last two shots I've taken at the $11 Horse 18:45 mtt on pokerstars I placed 4th or 5th and in the money. And the time I was just in the money, it was a razz hand in the rotation where I had a great shot of winning a big pot but instead lost a big pot. Crazy razz. I'll take a shot anyways, even if I overestimate my skills, because I just deposited 105$ today...

I'd consider myself a strong LO8, Razz (though sometimes it can be the game to break me), and Stud8 player. Stud High and Hold Em I tend to play more fearfully. In the Hold Em rotation, a couple hands can make or cripple your stack, so I tend to play quite tight. For Stud Hi I try to play tight as well.

re: mFTOPS 50+5 HORSE Event poker Also, In the past month I've won the pokerstars $0.25 [$100 added] nlhe mtt with about 2400 players, the pokerstars $0.50 nlhe mtt with about 1400 players, and the set of freerolls in the Dream Job [Canada] for $109 (both where you needed to finish top 18 of 2400 and 500 players in a row respectively). So I think I am a dangerous player when my gun is being aimed well. ~~~ Though it is micro stakes... lol.
