| Metagame affecting standard plays I know I've been starting a lot of threads lately, and if that's a problem or is tiresome to anyone I apologize. I'm just trying to really examine my game and clear up areas where I am not sure what I should be doing or why I am doing it. Yesterday I was playing 10nl FR, and in a succession of 5 hands, I had this succession of play. I 3-bet from the big blind against a button openraise, restealing, and the button folded. I folded my small blind. I raised up against a limper with KJ an took down the pot with a cbet. I open raised A10o from the cutoff and stole the blinds. It's folded to me in the hijack where I have pocket 2s. I figured I would be 3bet, but raised anyway. The cutoff min3bet and I called and check folded the flop. Given the amount of action I was giving on the previous hands, should I just open fold the pocket 2s? What about if I had 66, or KJo, hands I always open with in the hijack spot? |

| What if you had AA would you open fold that given your previous betting history? I'd say play them like you normally would but understand that someone might think you're getting too aggressive. If you get a light 3bet, you might consider calling if you think its someone trying to look you up. Set mine the 22 and if you hit then you can even use the hyper aggressive image to your advantage and stack someone. |

| Obviously I'm never folding any strong hands here and I am probably 4betting the top of my range if I think the villain can call. My question pertains to when I have a weaker hand with some value. And I know setmining OOP in 3bet pots is not profitable unless you are super deep(we werent). |

| Did you consider limping? I know shock horror WV is saying maybe open limp! You're in a spot were your table image (if anyone is paying attention) is really loose and you have a hand that you want to play with a big SPR. I think limp/calling to set mine is ok in this specific circumstance and at least should be given consideration. |

open limping with 22 sucks, i'd much rather open fold, i think people are overestimating how much you're going to win, even if you do make a set |

Or, we read an article about "3betting light" and all of the sudden... everyone is 3betting us light! Micro players trying to learn/move up sometimes make the mistake of applying advanced concepts to micro games. I did and it cost me. Attentive (but thoughtless) ABC poker gets the money at micros. |

| re: Metagame affecting standard plays poker I have been playing cards off and on for eight years now, but not since about six months ago did I start to take it seriously and actually put in the time and effort that it takes to go beyond a break even level 2 TAG fish, so please don't judge me. Moving from the .25/.50NLH weekly homegames to the 1/2NLH has been interesting. I love the way that double A put it when he said that over adjusting is worse than not paying attention. I feel like I have been doing far too much over adjusting. I am trying to do things based on what I percieve their range to be and for the people that are not paying attention I would say that I am fairly accurate 70-90 percent of the time depending on how bad they are. HOWEVER. I find myself in those "What should I do now?" kind of scenarios trying to combat the regs too much. Now that we understand that people are taking advantage of certain spots, how do you re take advantage right? I had a losing session at the casino tonight and it was not because I didn't take a couple of level 1 fish to value town, because I did, but because I over adjusted to the a reg that brilliantly and I mean brilliantly un-polarized his range with a LAG!! image. I found myself in more of the spots than ever tonight because of that BEAST, but at the higher stakes in general. I am definitely losing more money right now then when I did playing a standered TAG game, but when I am in the zone I cash out 3-4 times as much. I was wondering what I should do to make my win rate more consistant? What should I be practicing right now? I greatly respect your level of thought in the game. Reading your article has helped me a lot tonight, as I am not alone in these thoughts. Talk to you soon hopefully. Quote:
