This may be a stupid question but... Today I picked up The Poker Tournament Formula by Arnold Snyder and HOH1-3. I've read other books, and I think I have a pretty first grasp on tournament play and I was wondering which book I should read first? I know HOH is a must read but this other book seems to have similar end results but different ways of thinking about tournaments and how they are played. Should I read HOH, treat it as the default way to play and consider the other stuff later? Only 1/2 the way thru this thread but PTF sure seems to be worth a read: The 2+2 Forum Archives: The Poker Tournament Formula by Arnold Snyder...

Interesting lol havent read the book but it is interesting what Mellmuth has to say about it? He said some of the concepts are incorrect becuase playing like it states in the book you would be playing with a low M=chips rather then a high M becuase the speed in the tournments there for some of his plays would be wrong. Then he makes the point that when your allin that position no longer beats M becuase there is no advantage

Read em both. I think tournament Formula is directed at lo buy in online SNG's & MTT's. which is what I play. I also learned much valuable info that has greatly improved my game (IMHO). HOH 1&2 and Tournament formula are must reads for online tounament play.

re: This may be a stupid question but... poker You should probably be thinking about how this info can help your own personal game. There is no 'default' game. If there was it could be programmed into a bot. The HOH books are great insights into a lot of aspects of the game. But you really won't find many playing by any book, let alone by the book. Just like Super System revolutionized the game by giving insight into one mans (actually 5 or so) thinking about the game, all newer books only give more insight. In the end, you will develop a game that is truly your own, based on all the facets of the game that you have encountered. The bigger the foundation, the stronger the building. But I've got to say, if you feel the need to have a default game, the HOH series lays out a pretty solid game plan.

Your M is lower than you think Snyder's criticism of 'M' article in this thread.
