Losing faith in poker...
Seriously, I have been playing for the last few months and no matter what I do I cannot put together a game long enough to cash big. I've tried everything.
I usually play loose-aggressive then tighten up, I've played super tight and everything but being a jackass. This is why I am losing faith in poker. *note The last 10 games I've played I cashed once and most times I went out like this. Full Tilt Poker Game #15500671168: $2 + $0.25 Tournament (113486148), Table 23 - 150/300 Ante 25 - No Limit Hold'em - 3:15:05 ET - 2009/10/22 Seat 1: AJfromQ (13,235) Seat 2: notorioustlp (2,855) Seat 4: HipHopStoner (7,910) Seat 5: ChiefTico13 (2,385), is sitting out Seat 6: mikeyt408 (17,265) Seat 7: coyotefighter23 (6,795) Seat 8: Le Mama (33,115) Seat 9: bigIoser (9,255) AJfromQ antes 25 notorioustlp antes 25 HipHopStoner antes 25 ChiefTico13 antes 25 mikeyt408 antes 25 coyotefighter23 antes 25 Le Mama antes 25 bigIoser antes 25 coyotefighter23 posts the small blind of 150 Le Mama posts the big blind of 300 The button is in seat #6 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to HipHopStoner [Kd Ks] bigIoser folds AJfromQ folds notorioustlp folds yokitok sits down yokitok adds 2,270 HipHopStoner has 15 seconds left to act HipHopStoner raises to 885 ChiefTico13 folds mikeyt408 raises to 4,000 coyotefighter23 folds Le Mama has 15 seconds left to act Le Mama folds HipHopStoner raises to 7,885, and is all in mikeyt408 calls 3,885 HipHopStoner shows [Kd Ks] mikeyt408 shows [Qd Qs] *** FLOP *** [Qc Ad Ah] *** TURN *** [Qc Ad Ah] 8♥ *** RIVER *** [Qc Ad Ah 8h] 8♦ HipHopStoner: omg HipHopStoner shows two pair, Aces and Kings mikeyt408 shows a full house, Queens full of Aces mikeyt408 wins the pot (16,420) with a full house, Queens full of Aces HipHopStoner: seriously not @@@@ing again.. this is getting old *** SUMMARY *** Total pot 16,420 | Rake 0 Board: [Qc Ad Ah 8h 8d] Seat 1: AJfromQ folded before the Flop Seat 2: notorioustlp folded before the Flop Seat 4: HipHopStoner showed [Kd Ks] and lost with two pair, Aces and Kings Seat 5: ChiefTico13 folded before the Flop Seat 6: mikeyt408 (button) showed [Qd Qs] and won (16,420) with a full house, Queens full of Aces Seat 7: coyotefighter23 (small blind) folded before the Flop Seat 8: Le Mama (big blind) folded before the Flop Seat 9: bigIoser folded before the Flop WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO??? |

we all get bad beats on a regular basis, its part of the game, as long as you know that youre playing well it ll come,
my advice would be to take a break, watch the pros play, read a book, and you ll come back with a renewed confidence may the poker gods be with you, good luck at the tables |

The worst thing you can do is start playing worse because of your streak. Ive seen people go on a down swing and then start playing like a friggin idiot to make things even worse.
Just know. Poker is a cruel game. Only those with thick skin make it deep. |

re: Losing faith in poker...
The difference between 81% and 100% can really mind rape people in this silly game. 100% happens everytime, but 81% only happens 4 out of 5 times, which when you think about it is pretty freakin' often. Lots of major league baseball players have batting averages of around 20%. So while its unlikely that ball players will get a hit, they still score several runs in a game. 20% happens a LOT, get used to it.
You will take bad beats. The challange is to look past them (because you cannot control them), and focus on things that you can control. And I'm betting big $ that you've been doing some terrible things that you can control that's limiting your game. |

Hi
Hi,
First off maybe you should lay off tournaments for a while and play solid steady cash games. If you play ok you should have more winning than losing sessions and it should recharge your enjoyment and confidence. Tournaments can be a bitch sometimes..... Also no matter what you do respect sound bankroll managment strategies!! Hang in there and im sure itl work out...one of the November nine, Kevin Schaeffel told of how he went through an extremely painful and long losing streak despite his best efforts and he was losing way more money than you or I..and look at where he ends up.... GL!! |
