List of fish
Do you keep a list of people who have paid you off in the past? Do you search for them before you find a table?
I have only started to play for PokerStars ring games for real money for about the last month and have noticed that I keep running into the same people. I play NL holdem and Omaha hi/lo micro games and I take notes but thanks to these two threads I came up with an idea that i have not seen or thought of before. I am now keeping a list of players who are really bad, not just one play but persistant and consistantly making bad plays or calls. I will start looking for them before I sit, since then I can find a table where I know a fish is present. these are the links that made me think about it and come up with the idea and are both worth a read. http://www.cardschat.com/showthread....997#post394997 http://www.cardschat.com/blog/04/13/profit-vs-skill/ |

1) I make notes on every significantly strong or weak player i play with and read notes every time i have a difficult decision against someone. I don't look for them specifically at tables, unless there's someone who REALLY pays hands off or is a real donk who likes to give his money away. Online it's not too common to be playing the same players, as there are just so many of them, but it's always good to make notes just in case you run into them again. Searching them down with the player search feature is probably a good idea, but usually i just want to play OH8 or NLHE or whatever the game may be, and I'm not searching for fish specifically.
2) Congrats on the 500, titans4ever! ![]() ![]() |

I only have notes for the fish - or maniacs - or the solid players - thats it i think lol
![]() For the fish or really loose i may put an example of what they raise or call with just so i know what they 'could' be chasing next time. Also if they keep raising all the time etc, just the general loose game stuff. As for what people have written about your own game, if you play them a lot, remember a little bit a variance doesnt hurt to throw them off line lol. IanT |

I have in the past taken notes on most players seated at the same table as me, but starting from last summer i decided to try and up the stakes a little and only take mental notes on my opponents.
The reason for this is to try and help my Live game improve. It is pretty tough to do but if you stick it out it can be a great weapon when you do play B & M games. The funny thing is, my memory was pretty much shot to pieces when i started out but i can feel it gradually rebuilding itself. Taking notes and searching out the fish i feel IS very important, as its part of your overall management. zinzan1000 |
