Limit vs No limit HE

I tried a limit ring game tonight, and I have a question.

Are good starting hands for limit the same as the ones in no limit?

It seems to me that there are LOTS more people in every hand in limit and FAR more see the hand all the way to the end. So do starting hands like suited connectors work better in limit?

For example, I had Ah Kh, flop was KT5, eventually was run over by someone playing a QJ when a 9 came up on the river. Got me to wondering if hands like Ax suited and connectors would be better in limit. It's not like you can bet enough to hinder the chasing. I raised and reraised PF, flop and turn bets and this fellow called me down chasing the whole way.

Also, seemed like TPTK was rather weak in limit with so many people in the pot, almost every hand was 2 pair, straights + flushes etc that won.

Just lost another one, raised PF with QQ, BB called with 24o and ended up getting a straight.

Maybe it's just this table, but it sure seems a lot different than no limit. CHASE CHASE CHASE CHASE ......

Well I ended the session down $0.15, so I won just enough to not quite cover the rake. Once I stopped chasing cards myself, and started folding when I was sure I was beat I did fairly well.

The question about the starting hands was just dumb. Of course they are the same *bonk*. It still did appear to me that people chased cards a lot more than no limit, but that may have just been a factor of the people at this particular table.

re: Limit vs No limit HE poker

limit is pot odds. it's a post flop game witch means players playing 87s get the right odds most of the time. my suggestion live by odds. if you do that and find a starting hand pool good for your lvl you will make money at limmit

In limit as opposed to no limit:

- High cards go up in value.

- Mid-low suited connectors go down in value.

- Mid-low pocket pairs go down in value.

All of the above is essentially explainable by saying "implied odds are lower in limit". In many situations it may still be correct to play suited connectors or low pairs (especially as many people's play in limit is generally looser than in NL, and 4-5 people are routinely seeing a flop at many tables), but generally speaking they have less value when you can't take all of an opponent's stack if he hits big and you hit bigger.
