| Limit Tournament Strategy I primarily play Limit Holdem, but have never played a limit tournament. I have dabbled in some NL SNG's, and micro buyin NL tournies, but never really went out of my way to study them. I do understand alot of the NL tournament concepts though. Is there anything in particular to take into account for a limit tournament? Is just playing your usual TAG style enough? I'd think it would be, I can't think of anything else to take into consideration, but if there are other considerations I should take into account I'd love to hear them. |

| I have played samll limit tourneys live and have cashed pretty good playing like I would preety much do in a ring game. But like in a NL tourney, you gotta watch your stack size so it doesn't dwindle to nothing and maybe loosen up a bit when you're in the CO or button in order to see more flops (and try stealing more), but if you're facing calling stations and/or chasers, the nitty style works good since you're not as likely to push people out of their hands. But to recap, urgency dictactes that you loosen up earlier and more often, since you cannot "double up" as easily like in a NL tourney when your M gets low, unless you're facing complete donks who are murdering each others and giving you free chips in the process. Another thing you gotta remember to do is chase the flushes and straights when the pot odds are good: since the bets are small compared to stack sizes, at least in the early to middle stages, you gotta play your best draws when they're offered to you or you're likely to sit out many hands and not amass many chips (while in a NL, even if you have good pot odds, doing so might cripple you if you don't hit, meaning that you'll wait for a better spot to play). Blinds go up like they do in a NL tourney, so you gotta keep up. |
