Limit Stud H/L What tips do you have for someone who has not played it regularly outside of in dealers choice games? I plated the CC tourney today. Made a few mistakes. Learning. Made it back on the penny stud tables. Go for the scoops seems to be rule #1 and suited low starters is nice too. Don't go for high hands. Any other beginner tips? Thanks!

1) Scoop. In order to scoop, you must make a high hand, but low hands show the most profit (since they have position, are more "jammable", and your range is wider). So the solution to this is to play low hands that can make a winning high. 357 can make a straight in two cards, while 257 cannot. Thus, 357 is the superior hand. 2) You can play high hands against one low hand, provided your hand is live and you're not playing against an ace. The way you scoop in a pot like this is by having your opponent miss his low. 3) If you're not drawing the best in either direction on 4th or 5th in a multiway pot, you should probably fold unless your hand has a lot of potential going both directions. 4) Be nitty on 3rd street, especially if you're playing on Pokerstars. 5) This thread is cool: May Stud, Stud Hi-Low, and Razz hands discussion

re: Limit Stud H/L poker Do a search here and read about hands posted. Watch out for dead cards. If you have a hand like 775 for example and an 8 completes (which may rep 88x) you should definitely fold if your 7's and 5's are not live, for example. Or if you have 3 diamonds of which only 2 are low, you should fold 3rd street if there are 3 or more diamonds dead (and probably even if 2 are dead in tougher games).

i would say be very patient when playing in Tourneys. Im not a tourney player and i would say im better playing live cash games. Tourneys seem to make me get impatient and ruin my game. But i been starting to play tournaments more often. i.e. freerolls or local tournaments where i live. I got say, tournament play is way different, and you have to be more patient and wait for the right hands but sometimes hands won't come and its up to you to make a decision when to make a stand. I say as long as you go in with the best hand everytime, and lose than you still played good. The cards are just not in your favor this time. GOOD LUCK!
