Limit play, well on the button? raise, or fold with low hands?

Ok, so i have been playing more limit, and i have been thinking about raising, or calling from the button more.... Would this be good, or bad ?

I'm a big fan of playing raise/fold pre-flop in Limit Hold'em. So, try not to call unless you're getting juicy odds with cards that play well multi-way and have two passive players in the blinds.

if you dont have a decent hand just fold, it doesnt matter if you are in the button or not... with suited connectors, whick have lots of good outs in the flop then you can call and see the flop...

I love to play position poker.
Raise on the button is a standard move in limit,with the right situations that is.
I just finished reading the book called small stakes hold em by david slansky and it is a great limit book.
It has really helped to improve my limit games.

I agree with the second post. On button or late position it's standard to raise/fold when faced with little or no callers in early position with a premium hand of course. If it is done now and then with suited connectors or even just connectors of any kind, but if you may want to slow down a bit if called down to the river (even with a winning hand)

The raise not only takes advantage of position, but also usually checks the action all the way around to you where you can decide to semi-bluff at the pot, or take another card if you are on a draw for cheap!!

Always a good option to raise/fold preflop, even from any position really. Hard to come into a pot with simply a call, unless there are multiple callers and you have a mediocre hand with lots of drawing opportunities where pot odds helps out tremendously.

My question is, with multiple callers in a pot, should you almost come into a pot with any two cards besides the obvious 7-2. A hand that is within 2-3 cards of each other to give straight opportunity, as your hand may be so awful that ppl would not recognize the opportunity of the takedown. Of course, if the flop totally misses you, then dump it.

Any thoughts?

In response to OP, yes, you are supposed to play more hands on the button. Being positionally aware is no different than NL. You are supposed to play wider as you have better position. I would suggest getting a starting hand chart. You will want to start tighter than it suggests to start out but as your postflop skills increase, you will be able to open up more.

If you raise preflop, it is standard to lead out the flop regardless of whether or not you hit the flop (unless the flop is absolutely terrible for you and the pot is multi way). A raise preflop, check the flop line is tremendously weak.

If you raise preflop with AK (as you should), are we going to check fold the turn whenever we miss the flop and turn? You are going to be check folding more than 2/3 of the time if this is the case.

Raise/fold only really applies if you are first one in the pot. There are many times it is profitable to overlimp (call after several other people have entered the pot) or complete from the small blind.

This is a function of how many people are in the pot, your position, how well your hand plays multi way, and how much of a skill edge you have on the other players. If you are going to play a wider range preflop, you need to have the postflop skills to profitably be able to play these hands.
