Limit MTTs

Just entered one of these freerolls accidentally. Is there a strategy here? It was a huge donkfest the whole time until I got out. The betting got capped probably a quarter of the time pre-flop. It was like a lottery. I couldn't even get anyone away when I had KK. 6 callers.

I won't be playing another one of those tournaments anytime soon, but I'm just curious to see if anyone has had any success playing in a limit tourney.

I've played some limit hold'em and have been somewhat successful. And you are absolutely right about the limit freerolls. I think donkfest is an understatement.

I've played a couple of the freerolls and I would guesstimate that the betting was capped on almost every street about 75% of the time if not more until the survivors made it to the last 20% of the entries or so. At that point things got slightly back to closer to sort of normal (ish).

You'll need to buy into some no limit tournys or tables with real cash if you want to avoid some of the donks

Caution though, as limit hold'em strategy will in most situations at least somewhat differ (and in some cases significantly differ) from no limit strategy, so you need to do some studying up on it if you decide to pursue it at all (or it could be a rude awakening). In fact, from what I've read (for what that's worth) most pros actually believe that limit is a more difficult game than no limit. The only thing is that no limit is much more glamorous for TV and bigger ratings. And if you ever watch a broadcast limit event (like is WSOP) you'll see why.

the key to any limit games are pot odds. Just like a ring game play your odds and the donkey fest will pay off just dont go nuts like the other players and you will place. Limit is a whole differnt game
