| Limit hold em' strategy at this Casino i go to.. people bet with ANYTHING! when playing Limit hold em', here's the specific rules they play where i go, with limit at $4 bets up to 4 bets for each round, (usually only gets to 2 bets ($8) each round at an 6-8 handed table at the casino i go to) and after the flop same thing, but on the turn $8 with up to 4 bets for the table, and same for after the river. is it good to play a lot of hands in late position and see the flop in late position and fold on draws and flops you don't hit (unless pot odds are right).. because i dont know if this is regular for Limit but at the place i go to people bet on almost anything up til the turn and a lot of times the river. what's a good strategy for this specific place? |

| So, you're playing $4/$8 Limit in a b&m (aka no fold'em hold'em). Based on my experiences position is important but playing a lot of hands from lp may not be optimal; as you've already discovered, many peeps will play ATC since there's a limit to the bet/raise amts (unless it's heads up & then there's no cap)...& they'll generally play all the way to the river. More often than not, Limit players @ this level tend to be recreational players (so they're playing more for entertainment than anything else)...this can be advantageous for your bankroll if you're able to play the players more than getting played yourself (he/she is the victor being the one who makes the least mistakes). If you opt to be in a hand, make sure it's a hand you're willing to raise with & be consistent about raising (vs limping) since it disguises your hand & gives away less info about the range of hands you're playing. Plus you're decreasing the field while increasing the pot. The hand is ~70% over after the flop & this is the street to be aggressive with (I see so many peeps, check, check, check around...ugh). If you're in late position, raise an earlier position bettor to get info...if they fold they had nothing & if they re-raise they have something & make your decision from there. Also, pay attention to body language...it provides so much valuable information. My favorite is the lean-in (interested in what just appeared on the board) vs the lean-away (uh, oh, got a big ol' airball & want to 'get away' from the board)...it may subtle like their hands were resting on the poker table rail & now their hands have moved to their lap. | re: Limit hold em' strategy at this Casino i go to.. people bet with ANYTHING! poker If so many people are playing hands, and you are not able to bet them out, you should just play really strong hands. With this strategy you will win more money than you lose. There is no reason to play bad hands against players who will not fold. If you play tighter, you should be fine. |
