just a quick microstakes question

i play 2NL and 5NL and was just wondering if i am raising too little, i usually raise 3 or 4 bb's at 2nl, will it be more profitable to raise to say 5 or 6 bb's? as ive heard of some people on here suggesting to raise more than the standard 3 bb's? Thanks!

try different sizing. See how it goes. If they'll call a 5bb pfr, they'll a 6bb pfr. Then vbet the heck out of them. If they keep folding, drop it a lil, or just keeping stealing their blinds.

Never hurts to try different things, you may have an AHA moment that will gain you even more +ev.

I would say choose 3x 4x or 5x if you are really tight it would be okay to go with 5x but 3 or 4 is probably your best bet. However, im not saying if you bet 3x you should play looser these stakes you definately want to play tight. You should play no more than 17% of your hands if you were to play 9% it would be okay to raise 5x.

I use to rasie the same size no matter the hand or position but through time I now like to raise a different size bet based on position. Just a personal preference.

I know of players who just raise 3x the bb no matter what, and it pays off for them most times. Myself I like to vary my raises from 2.5x to 4.5x depending on the table, blinds, people, etc. Everyone has their own style I suggest trying both and seeing which one fits your game.

I find raising +1BB in early vs late stops fish just calling for the sake of it, plus it makes pots a bit easier to play as the money goes in faster

I think I'm not looking at it like some of you. I'm looking to bloat the pot often. Yes! I want to play big pots with the fish when I have a huge skill. positional, and card advantage.

I think it's a lot better to play the pot on your terms and not theirs.

Play big pots when you want, play small pots when you want.

ok. 2nl if you have a good hand, especially a big pocket pair, raise 6-7x at least. the best regulars at 2nl full ring (yes i can name a few) actually make it 22 or 24c preflop. the reason behind this is because the fish has no brain, he doesn't see it as x amount raise but as cent, he might not fold the 67 for 6 cent, but he most likely will for 20 cent. plus you want to get as much value preflop if you have lets say AA. Thats what i do and nobody can say my BB/100 is small, i have 6BB/100 at full ring 2nl and 9BB/100 at 6max.

so, raising bigger preflop works awesome, 3x is too weak at this level and you are going to get in a lot of multi way pots and now even you AA looks bad with 3-4 more players in the pot regardless of what came on the flop because there are so many combinations.

one more thing, saw some guys saying you want the fish to call, so there is a reason behind making it 3x or 4x. sounds really bad to me, i do want to get called but if possible i would like to get called by 1 guy, not 4 when i have AA, or even worse AK. i will take a fold preflop anytime rather than getting in ridiculous spots with too many players on the flop.

What about 5nl? Would you recommend 50-60c as a standard opening raise? I'm just wondering because I've always used the 3-4BB opening raise in both 2nl and 5nl. I'm going to try it and see how it works. You're right with a 3-4bb raise there are usually way too many callers to be comfortably c-betting..

some strategy articles i've read reccommend raising
4bb + 1bb for each limper
so with 1 limper before you
raise 5bb
2 limpers raise 6bb etc.

Lol just raise 4bb+1 for every limper. What's all this about raising 10BB's. Also oh nooooooeeesss fish called my 4BB raise with 82o :'(

at 5nl you should just go for 4x preflop plus 1x more for every limper.
