Intentionally setting someone on tilt!?! I had a hand in a live tournament that I posted here. http://www.cardschat.com/showthread....789#post364789 It got me thinking. Is it worth getting yelled at by a stranger to try and throw him off his game? You love to see someone on tilt but is it worth it to try and do it on purpose? I know "the mouth" loves to do it at the pro level. I have never been that type of player who table talks to get someone off their game but it is a definite stategy that can be used. When they are distracted and are not fully concentrating they can make little or big mistakes and cost them chips.

I personally will not try to put someone on tilt, but I will however throw gas on the fire if I see 2 others arguing. Especially if one is in the hand with me. When someone tries to do this to me I just wait until I have to fold and then respond. By that time people usually have no idea what I'm talking about.

Grumble, I can't see you doing it any other way. LOL. It is definitely a stategy to use in the right situations. I just don't have that type of personality to do it. If i saw someone teatering on the edge of tilt. I try to take advantage of it but am not one to try and push him over. This was live and I was right next to the guy since he was SB and I was the BB. He was dumb enough to show that he thought he was making a good lay down, I didn't think much of showing him that it would have been a split pot, and BOOM he just goes off. Is there a larger risk to do it live, when the guy/gal is at the table with you. It takes some serious balls to be an jerk in a live game and try to talk someone to the point of tilt. I was never scared he was going to do anything to me physically, but I still had to sit 2 feet from this guy until he went out (it did not take long).

re: Intentionally setting someone on tilt!?! poker I am usually extremely polite in my play. I don't see any reason to get into the demeaning conversations that many online idiots seem to relish. One time while in a pissy mood, however, someone, someone got pissed off that I knew he was bluffing and called me a donk. I rattled off the longest string of profanities which did not get edited. he answered back, and I rattled off some more. Gotta admit - in that instance it felt good...

i will only use this strategy against someone that has talked trash to me first, and i usually wait till after i beat them in a big pot, but i am careful about who i do this too because if they have position on me then i don't want them to be tilted raising every pot and forcing me to play much tighter
