Implied odds please Hey all, atm I am wondering how to include implied odds in my play. As an example, let's say in 2NL I have an open-ended straight draw on the turn. By the 4-2 rule-of-thumb this means I have around 16% chance of making my straight. Ok. The pot is $0.16 and the villain is betting 0.08. This means I have to add 0.08 = 25% of the pot and that is more than my probability to get my straight. So I should fold. But thinking about implied odds will tell me that after the river the pot will probably be something like $0.60 or more. Me throwing in 0.08 is therefore less than my probability to get my straight and win this big pot. Do you guys think about implied odds like that? And if you do that, isn't it often difficult to fold any kind of draw??

It depends. If you're in position with lots of money behind, folding an 8+ outer is not really an option. The question you should be asking is if you should raise. Call or raise depends on a lot of things such as villain's range, your own range (what can you rep besides a draw?), how villain plays the turn, etc. There are a lot of different draws, for example, KQ on JTx is a lot better than 65 on K87, for example. Playing out of position is trickier and you're probably better off c/r or folding in a lot of cases, especially when the draw is obvious and/or unlikely to be paid off and is not always to the nuts (J7 on T98 out of position can be folded for a decent bet).

It would depend on how the person betting has been playing. Have they been betting half pot with any two overs or any pair. If they have been loose, I may just call the raise and wait to see what they do on the turn. If they make a half pot bet, I may re-raise to get them off their hand. If they call, you still have some outs to win the pot. Of course, if they have been playing pretty conservative, you may just want to fold.
