| Im playing better (or running better at 25nl) What should I do? I Just had a look at some of my stats via PT and notice that my stats are a little bit better at 25nl. So my question is, What is your opinion on just moving up to 25nl permanently even though I am currently under rolled for it ~13BI. (Right now sitting about $325 for various reasons other than purely 6max ring games) -Note: I just had a pretty big Downswing at .05/.10 last week for about 6 BI's ![]() Edit: I also realize 8k and 2k hands is pretty low, But I have only been tracking my stats for the past 2 months. | re: Im playing better (Or running better at 25nl) What should I do? poker Concur with the others. Stick with the 05/10 until your roll justifies the move upward. One major downswing could wipe you out or do serious damage to your roll before you could step back down to rebuild. |

| Stick with .5/.10 imo. 2k hands is absolutly nothing and in no way represents your expected win rate. Your playing 6max and imo 20buy-ins isnt enough for it never the less 13, for 6max i prefer atleast 30buy-ins since there are more swings to be expected. But if u whant to play 25 and can afford to just redeposit if u go broke i dont see a reason why its so horible to move up, along as u accepted the fact there is decent chance your BR will get crippled by some varience. p.s I know u didnt ask but if i where u i would try to close the gap between VPIP and PFR by raising instead of limping alot of your hands. |

| Tiny sample size. Could just be variance. What you choose to do depends on how important that money is to you, and how comfortable you feel playing the higher level as you don't want to be playing with scared money. I personally have no problem with uber aggressive bankroll management at small stakes. Just make sure you do have a move-down threshold, but it can be a low one. Chris_TC used 8/11 (8 buy-ins to move down, 11 to move up) the last time he built up. |

So I guess I am just going to stick to 5/10 for now. I might take another shot when my BR hits 17-18 BI's or so again. The only reason I was playing at 10/25 in the first place was to buffer the hits that my BR took from 5/10 swings. I know, I know, Stupid thing to do, but at the time my BR was over $600 and could handle 10/25. (It is low right now for reasons other than this) |

| Pretty much what everyone else said. If you can redeposit and think you are a winning player at 25nl I dont see any problem as long as you wont be playing scared. As for your spread, I would just stop limping anything. Just raise your PP. |

| im no expert or anything, but ill give you my experience cuz it might be a warning. i played with a $50 bank roll. At first i lost tons, went down to 10, realised i was doing something wrong, and decided to study hard about the game. I went to lower micro stakes, grinded 0.02/0.04 fro a day, then 0.05/01, then 0.25/0.50 i was playing some good poker, using the concepts on this site, and found myself at about $150. Feeling pretty confident etc. Then I experienced what i can only call a huge down swing. Things like having a flush on the flop losing to a full house on the river, pocket aces being beaten by 2 and 7's at least three times, all kinds of bs that shouldnt really happen that many times in a row. I almost lost my whole bankroll, but before that happened, i went back to to lower stakes, and im now trying to grind up again from $5. Its been a huge learning experience. I try and think of it as the money I lost being paid for training to get better at the game in the future. that said, i wont be going up stakes for a while. |

| re: Im playing better (Or running better at 25nl) What should I do? poker Haha, in a poker forum with lots of grinders, did you expect any different? Their advice is 100% correct. There is a reason you wait for 20 buy ins. So you can leave space for bad beats, and not lose your backroll with a few in a row. Just play it correctly. Give it time. Once you grind up to the 20 buy in threshhold, then give it a try. If you lose a few hands, GO BACK to the earlier table, don't stay to recover. It can get quite frustrating, but it's the proper way to play. Don't fall into the luxury of playing under your bankroll, it will come back to bite you. |
