If to play loose or tight? Alright everyone, am playing NLH SnG and theres bout 8 or 9 people on my table. Chips are around 1000 to 1800 for each player and the blinds have shot up to 100/50. According to Harrington this puts everyones M in the orange or low yellow zone. When the blinds go up everyone will definately be in the orange even red zone (hope your still following). My problem here is 1)if i raise shorter stacks keep coming over the top an ive just lost valuable chips and 2)i dont want to wait for cards cos the blinds will kill me. So my question is should i play tight and wait for good cards to call an all in or go over the top OR go for broke and push with any decent holding in any position to keep stealing blinds as the game becomes less about skill and more about getting lucky at right time?

With effective stacks at 12-16 or so you want to be looking for opportunities to reraise all-in preflop, with less than 12 you want to be looking for opportunities to shove. You only want to call with very strong hands, but your raising range can be pretty wide. So raise light, call tight. The # of players to act and their stack sizes are the primary determinants in your actions. You want to be stealing a lot from people who can afford to fold, but you need a mucher stronger hand than pot odds against range dictate close to the bubble to be able to call, which is why you can steal a lot more. Against people who can't afford to fold, you need to raise tight still.

re: If to play loose or tight? poker I try to play position more than anything else. If I'm in the blind, and I get one or two limpers, I'll push in, knowing that if they had a really decent hand, they would be raising to thin the field at this limit. Sometimes I step in a trap, but it usually buys me enough free blinds to wait out a better hand.

My suggestion woould be to wait for the best hand "in the best position". This may vary your hand determination depending upon where you stand on the board including many important factors. Three of which most importantly would be chip-stack size, position in reguard to other players play style and your own table image. Lol I'm just kiddin , Go all in!!!!
