I need help with my playing style.
Look above. I've only been playing for 3 months so I'll need some advise here.
I love being Loose-Aggressive.I just keep getting knocked out (maybe I bluff too much) How loose-aggressive am I? Pre-flop:call with 22 33 44 55 66 77 45s 67s 78s Pre-flop:raise with 98n/s 88 99 10 10 J 10s Q 10n/s so on... Pre-flop:re-raise with QJs KQs KJ AJ AQ AK JJ KK I often re raise on a 2 way straight draw and with a flush draw on the flop If I dont get it I make a bluff on the river about half the time. How Loose and Aggressive should I be? Because I think I'm over doing it. Maybe I should be more passive or more tight. What do you think? |

You're playing far too many hands.
Also a "hand" is not about what you have, and what happened, it's also about position, and the other players style. I would only play small suited connectors, if I have the position (if I'm the dealer, and I can act last). What will you do with those cards with early position when flop missed you? You are just wasting chips. Also at late stage of a tourney (if the question is about tourneys), I'd definetly throw small pairs away, maybe call only in late position. Re-raising on a flush draw - again it depends on the board, and the other players. When 2 more cards will come you will have your flush only 1 in three times. So if the flop has some face cards, your opponent won't fold his top pair, maybe he will even re-raise you. About face cards, you -as many people are- overrating the J10, QJ, KJ etc. cards. What if a J comes? Can you feel good about your cards? Not always. I guess yes, you are too loose, and you need to pay more attention to the other players game. You can keep on betting or bluffing if you think your opponent is weak or a tight player, but again position is very important. I advise you to read some books about poker. You should know how to calculate pot odds, and when playing you should always try to guess what the other players might have (even if you're not in the pot). And of course keep asking in the forum, about hands or tactics you're unsure about! We're here to help! ![]() |

I sorta agree with you on the Q 10 being over rated. But if you have a KJ and a flop like this comes J 7 3 you have the second best kicker right? And I've seen alot of people in the WSOP and WPT go all in with J 10s. That would be And what about Gus Hansen? He playes with any 2 cards and he's successfull. |

didnt doyle win 2 wsops(tell me if this is wrong) with 10,2? That doesnt mean that the likes of me and you should play that hand unless its a limp-in mate. My poker success is mainly from good cards and luck. Pros also have great reads, great bluffs, aggression when needed, and the ability to lay down monster hands when needed. Good luck bud |

Doyle brunson won with 10,2 in his earlier years when there wasn't as much interest with hold-em as it is now.
Gus Hansen, yes plays like a maniac but I have watched him change his game at times as well. Not to mention that he has been caught. The 3 P's is what needs to be learnt 1st. Patience, Power and Position. Notice how Patience has to come 1st. |

I'm not sure why people love Gus so much. I admit I liked him at first but after watching him over the last year, I actually have begun to dislike his style and think he has been way more lucky than skillful in his play. I know he has made a ton of money (and lost a ton more) but he is also who I think had perpetuated all the jackass play we see online "because he plays any 2 cards and is successful".
