I know my Opponent is on Tilt… what now?

I have a few questions that I would greatly appreciate a few opinions about.

I know there is an archive here with most of these topics already being discussed in them, and believe me, I search these topics too. But my searches for these questions seem to only result in enough generalization of the actual strategy behind the questions, that I find myself finally coming back to the original question again.

Please don’t think I’m looking for the definite answer that will “be all” and “end all” in poker. But I would greatly appreciate any insight and opinion you may have on these general topics and questions.

Okay, so……….

I know my Opponent is on Tilt… what now?
(My opponent’s attitude has changed and now he’s tilted for whatever reason.)

Try to assume this question from the point of view at any poker table with any limit or any style. Please help me with the plan you choose, given this piece of information in any circumstance, with this information being at least one of the facts you have going in pre-flop and then beyond to your overall strategy.

What other factors matter the most with at least this piece of information in your plan? What are your goals in the situation? And how do you get to them? Do you try to push your opponents to change that current state of mind, or do you use it against them? What would make you think they are bluffing and chasing, or just playing straight up and pot building? What would make you consider putting odds and outs to the side? What else could you do if you first plan fails and what identifies that failure?

Please help me with your thoughts on positions, odds, and specific hands. But try to remember that more generally, I’m looking for your strategies for attack, withdraw, or quite play in these situations. Or your overall game plan, along with as much information of when and how you would change that plan.

there are different types of tilt. tilt is basically defined as being in a state where you are not playing optimally, or your best. so your opponent could be playing too tight or too loose or trying to make too many fancy plays etc. your question becomes very situation dependent. "the poker mindset" is a good read on this topic.

He is on tilt than maybe he plays more lose than he actually does. Try increase your value betting in order to invrease your EV. IF he is on tilt he is going to call all the time hoping that he would do a bad beat to another player. At least thats what ive noticed

Piss him off more by typing nasty remarks. He'll inevitably push allin when you're BB with some ace rag. Profit.

The Worst thing u could do in this situation is bluff just play your cards and u should profit

He would most likely bet on his lowest pair just to get more of your chips. Thus, when you got premium slow play him and get a nice chop of his stack

He will generally pay you off more on mediocre hands.
Don't focus too much on him either, others at your table might notice...

This works great if you get the hand. But try to keep him on tilt.

when your opponent is on tilt it should be easier to play tight. be patient and wait for your cards if you don't catch them then play tight until he/she is out

When you know you're opponent is on tilt, it doesn't mean it's free chips. It could be, but you need to also be smart. Once you placed you're opponent on tilt he can be a dangerous player. You don't want to help him rebuild his stack.

If I notice some one on tilt I play with extreme caution cause at the end of the day you do not know what 2 cards there are playing! I'll push only if I know I have the best hand.

Plus somebody else touch on the rest of the table that is true cause you may losen up to much and then you seem to be on tilt to other players.

The best advice, in my opinion. If hes angry and irrational, the best thing to do is to make egg him on. Then, when he does something stupid WHAM!!

I think tilt a lot of times is when you get frustrated that you call too many hands, bet erroneously, and just play bad. You just need to take a deep breath and move on.

I have tried diiferent things when i see someone on tilt....I have been hit more than once though with AA or KK,i think it depends on if its a fish or some one who knows the game well.If u noticed thoughout the torn the he is a donk then more than likely he has nothing but if its a good player u could be had really quick.

You have to know, which kind of player he becomes when he is on tilt, and you should know, that being on tilt, wont keep him away from getting a strong hand, he maybe on tilt, but a strong hand might take him away from the tilt. I think that having your opponent on tilt, is a stronger weapon in normal poker then internet poker, it's pretty hard to see when your opponent is on tilt in the internet.

If he is on tilt then I would say you have less fold equity against him so dont bluff as much because he will call you more.

Aside from that I dont think you really should do much at all differently.

Remember he is the one who is tilting so that means he will be making bad decisions and you will profit by that.

If your decisions were correct before he went on tilt then why should they now be incorrect just because he is tilting?

So if your decisions arnt incorrect.. why do you need to change?

His range may open up.. but he may well play for bigger pots so trying to play more hands could put you in a bad situation if he hits.

Trying to exploit his tilting puts you in potential danger. The fact that he is tilting means your normal play will naturaly exploit him.. there isnt much need to do anything that you wernt doing before.

Just reduce the fold equity you think you have against him.

How?

Do you mean by poking fun at him in the chat box? .. that might work.

Do you mean by betting in ways that you weren't before? .. that puts more of your money at risk with weaker hands... thats basically tilt

i relate the tilter to a fish chasing a worm lol...just dont get swallowed in the process....
