I just started no limit.. how do you play against this type of player

From the notes I have on him... how do you play against him?

5,10 sb suited,, didn't bet 88's pre flop on the button.. bets on mid pair.. bets if he has any pair on the flop.. limps alot and calls any raise

I admit its .01/02 no limit.. but how you deal with that?
No matter what he will call anything from any position.

Your notes aren't detailed enough, to be honest. I could be guilty of all of the notes except for the last one (I rarely, bordering on never, coldcall raises preflop out of the blinds).

For instance, bets middle pair: In position? How many players are still in the hand? Is he the preflop raiser? Does he donk middle pair? Raises with it? Checkraises with it?

On the whole, it sounds like a loose and somewhat aggressive player. Since his primary mistake is to play too many hands, you should tighten up somewhat (SOMEWHAT!) against him and then value-bet him to death, i.e. bet stuff like middlepair, good kicker where against a tight opponent you'd probably check/fold. But knowing that he plays T5s from the SB isn't useful, really. In an unraised pot with a passive BB, I'd often play that as well. If he plays it UTG, now that's a different story.

sorry about the notes paulsson... just thought I would give limit a try even at the small amounts... My full notice about him was that he would bet mid pair no matter what his kicker was. So forgive me on the notes.. thats all I have cause after I made a $1.20 on .40 cents playing there I went to a sit and go..

Don't apologize for your notes; just the fact that you have them at all is good. I'm merely suggesting that you should, for your own sake, include stuff like what I mentioned to make sure that you capitalize on what he actually did.

For example, and I'm not saying this was the case here but I want to show what I mean: Betting with middle pair, no kicker can be the sign of a maniac -

Board is A-T-6-4, flop was bet, raised and 3-bet, and he bets out the turn with T-9o.

... or it can be the sign of a very skilled player -

Board is A-T-6-4, he's on the button and the other player in the pot is known to bet and raise any draw and any pair, yet did not bet this flop, and he's betting T9o for value.

The reason I mention this is because sometimes I notice in my own notes that I've forgotten to include information that would really help. I've had stuff in there like "3-bets 8-8 preflop" which is sort of useless unless I also know which position he did it from and who the player who originally raised was. I sometimes 3-bet 8-8 preflop myself, it doesn't have to say much about how I usually play it.

Anyway: Play stronger-than-average hands aggressively against him. That's the recipe for most loose players.

FP, nothing really to do with the thread but, thank you for showing a bit how to take the notes. I have been taking notes for a long while now and now I realize my note taking was subpar. This one paragragh above showed me how to take them better. Thank you!
