How to win MTT's
I have just started playing in MTTs and it always seems like I manage to get to the top 100 of a fields of just over 1,000 and then get busted out and I can never push on the way I would like to. I always try and start very tight and start to loosen up when the blinds get bigger. Do you have any advice on how to finish higher in the tournaments and not get busted out?
I would appreciate any advice that some more experienced players could give me that could improve my game. |

My addvice whould first be post some hand historys from when u go bust in the HH section of the forum, you whil get a good analysis there.
Also in the golden archive are a lot of good articles on MTT check it out heres one about open pushing at a late stage http://www.cardschat.com/f49/open-sh...cussion-83565/. Try posting some more info so people can give you better addvice. Your doing the right thing starting tight and then loosening up when the blinds are geting bigger, but what postion are you trying to steal from? Playing out of postion could be your problem but with out more info its hard say. |

If you are generally getting to the top 10% of the field already, you are doing pretty well! The thing with MTT's,which I am sure you will have noticed is that there is A LOT of luck involved in the later stages as the blinds keep going up and up. One thing I will say is before you push all in generally stop and breathe for 10 seconds and think wether the push is necessary!

I am mainly pushing from late position depending on who i am playing with, if it is a very passive table then I will push a lot more often with a wider range of hands whereas if the table is looser then I am more careful when pushing. I will try and find some hand histories for people to look at when i play in some more MTT's

Winning a MTT or even making a deep run is very difficult. There is a breaking point in each tournament where you will usually have to take a chance with your stack. Also need to develop good reads at your tables to ensure blind steals when the levels get juicy.
Stealing blinds is the best way to make a run deep into a tournament. |
