Always a hot topic, and no one seems to have a solid answer. I have noticed that I do best when I don't rebuy at all, and the more rebuys I do, the more expensive the entertainment. In my case I think that perhaps the very act of rebuying is a statement to myself that I am probably playing too loose. But that is just my take on it, as I have learned to generally stay away from rebuys as dangerous places.....

Well if you have a 1k bankroll i think you should buy in 3-4 times with an add on at break if you need it. But if you take advatage of all the re buy kings out there who go all in every hand just so they can rebuy than hopefully you dont have to rebuy.

really, your rebuy strategy should change a lot depending on buy in and your bank roll. I'm not the best br manag dude, but rebuys are normally worth more than 4x your buy in. and if your br is what it should be for the tournament, you should rebuy more. becuase the first prize is well worth the rebuys for ROI

Tho if you good you should not need to rebuy.... You will end up getting knocked out by the fish any way, Witch happened to me in a rebuy mtt i only did an addon and that was still not good, i did not make it in to the money witch was a pain see every one had 10K well i only had 5k. Tho it is more or less up to you on it. I think i would be SS from the start it helped me out more in playing hands...

As others have said, I rebuy right at the start to give me a bigger stack and I'll addon - If I am playing well and just happen to hit an unlucky hand or a bad beat, then I will rebuy in for double, as long as I am making good decisions still and the chip stack I rebuy will give me an M over 20. No point in buying 1500 chips if the blinds are 100/200 .

Pro strategy is to stack preflop really light, not caring if they lose all their chips because they want to increase the number of chips at their table. They know they can outplay the people at their table so they want as many chips on their table as possible so they can take the chips back later.

re: How many rebuys? poker My `plan` is simple. I don`t panic. I am aiming to have about 4 times starting stack made up as follows. 3k starting stack immediate rebuy (if avail) 3k 3k add on and win a pot for 3k. So I have a target of 12k in this instance. A lot of people will say I`m wrong, but it works for me. Two main reasons I do this 1) Puts less pressure on me meaning less stupid plays. 2) Any more than this is a bonus. I play relativley tight but watch the table more in the rebuy period. Any nutta I will call with a decent holding.

I don't know...But I know 13 is not the correct answer I watched my buddy Wildjax in a tourney last night on Bodog. A guy rebought 13 times at 11 bucks a pop. He would have had to place in the top 5 just to get his money back. I love these people...

If I had saw this post didn't have lost my money.... Last Night I played $3.00+0.30 for 8K Fulltilt Tourn.... My strategy was: play tight at the first hour. After 4 hands I had QJ at the hand the flop appears Q52... the guy only check, i made a strong raise, received a re-raise... put all in and he show AA...... my first rebuy Missing 1 min to finished the first hour, I had again a strong hand... the guy put all in....at the flop i was won, tourn too.... river .... A other pair in my face.... needed make again two rebuys and do too an addon.. Total lost yesterday.... $ 15,30.....

Well if your trying to have the best chance and save the most money then choose the rebuys that give you a double rebuy and a add on. Like i was in this $11 rebuy the other night, and there was 165 players I took a long shot and lost in first 15 minutes.... i did a double rebuy ($20) and played tight till the end of the rebuy hour...then did a $10 add on which is usually a double the original stack size. I was 44 out of 112 left in the tourney and only spent $41.00......some other guys did like 6 rebuys and didn't have enough to add on and had like 1/5 of my stack...so it’s how you want to play, aggressive or conservative. You can literally buy your way into the “late middle stage” of the tourney.
