| How to Learn Poker There are about a dozen people on this site who know everything that has ever been known, or ever will be known about poker. They know exactly how to play poker, every card, on every street under every circumstance. They have it solved like Tic-tac-toe is solved. Pay attention to them. Learn from them. They know everything. Whatever you do, don’t argue with them. Don’t dispute with them. Don’t debate with them. Just ask them questions, and do what they tell you to do. Gather, on your knees, around their feet and honor them. Cherish them. Praise them. Be grateful to them. Because there is only one way to play poker, and they know it. They live it. They breathe it. They exude it from every pore. All you need to do to succeed at poker is to listen to them. Study their words. Absorb as much of their wisdom as your intellect is capable of, and someday, it will be you at that final table in Vegas, playing for that bracelet. Be thankful that they post here, because they truly are the Gods of poker, this pantheon of the chosen dozen. All hail! |

| Okay, I'm not going to be an ass, and I'm going to answer this seriously. Riley, you're new. You joined a month ago, you play the smallest stakes its possible to play. You can't expect to "win debates" being new. You can't expect for your opinion to carry a lot of weight when you don't have any credibility or experience behind it. When I joined Cards Chat 2 years ago, I was brand-spanking new as well, and I had retarded ideas about poker. I'll give you an example. This post I made is forever enshrined in the golden archives so everyone can see how bad I was: http://www.cardschat.com/showpost472717-post16.html Quote:
So sorry if your advice isn't welcomed like Jesus at a Jars of Clay concert, but I think you're being a bit delusional if you expect your thoughts to be that important. And no, we don't know everything about poker. I play 100$ NL, which is still considered small/micro-stakes. However, I know how to get to where I am from 2$ NL, and I give people advice on how to do the same. And I do this because people gave me advice when I was learning, and because it helps to better ingrain these principles into my head. So yeah, when you're giving bad advice to players, I'm going to call you out on it, because you're polluting the knowledge pool that allowed me to be successful as I am. So yeah, stop giving bad advice, and thinking you're god's gift to poker after 1 month posting on this forum. Do that, and posting here will suddenly seem a lot more welcoming. And posts like your opening post don't help much either. |

The regs on this forum have got to the stakes they play through posting/reading advice on this forum. If you want to get to those stakes, then do likewise. It's that simple! I'm not saying you have to tow the party poker line on every topic, there have been some great debates on this forum, but they have been debated in a logical, well reasoned manner. If you have opinions, but they always seem to be the minority viewpoint, then you have to ask yourself some questions in to why that is maybe! |
