HOW DO YOU SLOW AGGRESSIVE PLAYERS?
I play alot of SNG with 10 players. When the table is tight, I do really well. However, when there is one or more aggressive players, I have trouble seeing enough flops. Especially when I don't get top ten hands. How can you slow down these aggresive players without going all-in with a semi-strong hand, and taking the chance of getting outdrawn.

Which hands are good enough to call a 5x BB raise from a guy who just made the same raise 6 out of 8 hands. I know its possible, but I don't think he was hitting that many good hands. Just trying to be a bully.

You cant slow them just out play them!!
what i do is just tighten up and wait for a great hand. Dont worry about not playing your hands. Thats what the guy wants. Pick your hand and take him down. The good thing about aggressive players is that you can trap them. Just wait. If blinds are killing you youll just have to go for it make him think because if you have been tight the whole time the aggressive guy might see that you are only playing good hands and fold giving you the blinds. To sum up just out play the guy. His super aggressive style has its flaws. Just wait for it and take you shot. The key is to not go on tilt because you dont want him to raise. Only play a hand if you are willing to call his raise. And if your under the gun or in early pos dont call with a mid range hand. good luck |

Well quazar in this particular argument this topic has two sides. You could outplay them or flat call to take away there momentum and raise them on the river (or turn if you complete a big hand then). I like to flat call just because the old donkey can come over the top and put you in a pickle

I personally only flat call if I have a big hand and am pretty sure we will be heads up before the flop. I think it shows weakness, and invites a big continuation bet. Then you can raise on the flop. If you flop a monster(in my opinion trips or better), you can slow play if he continues to bet big. Sometimes I raise small with my monsters to representing a bad bluff attempt, hoping he will reraise big or all-in.

I agree with MadMike but for me actually I let them knock themselves out. They cannot have a good hand everytime. Either you will take their stack or someone else will. I tighten up only to play if he is in the pot and I have the best hand.

from mad mike caro's part in Supersystem 2:
"How to make any poker bully beg for mercy: 1)Call more often; 2)Raise less often; 3)Seldom value bet." personally i just tighten up and punish them either with big hands or big draws if you're getting shortstacked, there's nothing you can do - just wait for a big ten hand, or take a stand with a medium ace or king. |

All you can do to stop a bully is call him/her. A bully will run away with their proverbial tail between their legs if you call them with a sem-good hand and they get a bad beat. Of course they could get lucky, but you can't advance if you never take risks!
