| You need to be using their actions, VPIP and PFR to find their range pre flop. After the flop we can use their actions and bet sizes etc to narrow their range from what we had pre flop. Say we had a nit who had a VPIP of 9 and a PFR of 7. He played a very straight forward game post flop where he bets with top pair or better and check/folds if he doesn't hit.Villain is in the CO and raises preflop (HEM and PT3 have VPIP and PFR by position aswell but lets say he open raises 7% from the CO). Taken from pokerstove ![]() The flop comes Q 8 2 and villain bets out. Now that we know he only bets with top pair or better we can narrow that range down. ![]() You can do the same for the turn and river. Now that we know what his range is we can determine how our hand does against his range. Say we had JJ in the above example. Against his 7% preflop range we have 55% equity but once he bets out on that flop we are down to 9%, basically drawing to two outs. Preflop equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 44.923% 44.13% 00.80% 394426320 7108440.00 { 88+, ATs+, KTs+, QJs, AQo+ } Hand 1: 55.077% 54.28% 00.80% 485179488 7108440.00 { JJ } Postflop Board: Qs 8h 2c Dead: equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 90.776% 90.74% 00.03% 185958 69.00 { QQ+, 88, AQs, KQs, QJs, AQo } Hand 1: 09.224% 09.19% 00.03% 18834 69.00 { JJ } In any real hand it is obviously never this easy but once we know the tendencies of the villain in different situations it does make it easier. |
