How do people know how their game is percieved by opponents?

I have a hard time stepping back and seeing how I am coming off at the table. I have to constantly keep telling myself to mix it up so that people don't see any patterns in my game or I will end up being too predictable. When I am in a session for a long time I find it hard to pinpoint how I am being percieved by the table. I know what a good player is supposed to do mixing up bets, switch to the opposite style then the style of the table, etc. I generally do these things but fing it tough to figure out how others are reading me.

What are some of the tricks that you use to help you with this?

If you don't have PokerTracker, get it. When/If you do, you can look at your stats to see exactly what you are doing. When you try new things (more bluffing, more check-raising, etc.), you can break down your stats for the time period that you changed your game and see how it worked. As far as how your opponents see you, the stats will speak for themselves. Good luck!

I always seem to have a feel for how I think I'm looking at the time. There are times I'll fold otherwise good hands because I don't think I'll be able to play them to best advantage given my current image. Likewise there are times I'll play complete garbage knowing my opponents will fold by the river.

I doubt I'm as accurate as I sometimes think and I'm sure some players see through me, but I think a lot of it is trusting your instincts and just keeping a mental note each hand of how you'll have come across with that play. Pay particular attention to any hand you show down since these will be the key to your opponents reads.
