"how to bet"

I came across this article from Chris Ferguson and wanted to share and see from anyone if this applies more to real tourny play, online tourny, or equally both... thanks

One of the most important principles in No-limit Hold'Em is to conceal the strength of your hand. To do this, experienced players agree you need to mix up your play. Most people believe this means playing the same hand in different ways-for example, sometimes limping with A-A and sometimes making a big raise with A-A.
This is wrong! To conceal the strength of your hand, you need to play different hands the same way. Once you decide you are going to play a hand, make the same bet whether it is the strongest hand you would play in that situation, like A-A, or the weakest, like 7-6. Playing the same hand in different ways may confuse some opponents but can still give away a lot of information about your hand.

I can say that i played 76 hearts in a tourny with position and beat this players AQos that i feel he overplayed his hand or overvalued it..(my opinion). he was first to act, blinds were 40-80 he raised 200 i called, knowing i had position and if i hit my hand he would be out, if not then i would fold. J-7-8 floped w two hearts, he bet 240 i just called, turn was 6, now he moved in for his last 1000 which i had him covered, i called he had As Qh i had two pair with straight and flush draw river blank and he through a hugh fit, i thought it was phil H sitting there how i was a donk, i played shit poker, all the same stuff. Please correct me if im wrong but i thought poker was about strategy and keeping players guessing..... if i knew how to download my HH to show and get better evaluation i will. My way of thinking is i knew he had a big hand with my suited connectors and if i flopped i knew he would bet since he was being aggressive, but what do i know...

I never raise a hand like 76 to get more chips... only if i want my oppenent folding... My my hands i normally go allin-in with are : pocket pairs, and AK... because there is a high chance of to win...

Last time i got kicked out with AA because i got a player with A3 call my All-In cause of my chat psychology... He got his flush

So my oppinion is: don't overplay lowcards, only if u're sure that ur opponent will fold cause of a low hand...

sure that makes sense, and i try to stay away from raising w/ small suited connectors unless bubble play is in affect and i have position..... but was courious since "online" play has a different texture than "live" play is why i pointed out the article.. i understand that is nothing new but seeing all ins with any pocket pair kinda throws strategy out the window, unless aa or kk, but is a good idea to call an all in with ak or push all in w ak??

Playing small, suited connectors with position is a good way to mix up your play and in fact is how many professionals play poker, see Daniel Negraneu (Does anyone other than him truly know how to spell that???).

My betting preflop is always the same, I know some raise it up a bit depending on the amount of limpers, but me personally I keep it the same. My thought is that the only info I am giving away preflop then is my position. Of course this can backfire since it won't always drive out as many as I would like, but, that's part of the game. Postflop, my betting is going to be completely dependant on the situation, although I try to be consistant whenever possible.

One of the things that sends up the biggest red flag to me is people who overbet the pot or noticeably bet inconsistantly. It is very suspicious to me and makes me try that much harder to figure out their playing style.
