all u can do is put your money in good-you cant control the cards-just say nh gg and move on to the next tourney-or hand-if you feel u cant shake the tilt feeling just quit playing for the day-in the long run skill overcomes luck-the_urge27

Man this is an amazing post and relates to me in so many ways..Haha..Pocket AA lose to 22, man that happens way too much..And it also happens to be a coincidence that my name is TiltMonkey999..I try not to TILT, but sometimes I cant help it..Emotions over power me..I have to get over that hump inorder to make money efficiently..Until then, I will keep losing..But amazing post
Good to hear from a person that knows what hes talking about..Great Post Take Care Ray |

yes tilt can be a bitch. i just remind myself that if im making the right decisions then i need to continue to play my game. however, if i make bad decisions i normally get up because that is how i avoid tilt. gl all and play on.

I don't agree with twizzybop's post about avoiding going on tilt. It is just not true. Being "emotionally intelligent" keeps logic pumping and emotions suppressed enough that they don't control your thinking. This is something I learned in college. It also takes practice and acknowledgment. I could go further into the concept; but, it is beyond the scope of this thread.
Working somewhere you hate until you find a new job is an example of not letting your emotions overpower your logic. It's done all the time. Remembering your goals is a way of overpowering the emotional response to performing an unwanted task that needs to be done; in order to, complete your goal. In poker, listening to your gut and making a call is logical. But, to make a foolish call out of revenge, anger, etc. is emotional which is the worst way to play. Also, taking a break from the game shows that you can't handle the pressure of losing. It's a weakness that will be exploited by better opponents; however, if it's the only way for someone to keep their emotions in check- so be it. But, I would find a better way to cope. Thinking emotionally is dangerous. Not only in poker, but in real life. Getting arrested; getting in fights; buying something you can't afford because you want it; are, some of the signs of poor emotional intelligence. Poor emotional intelligence, in general, will lead to mediocrity- at best. |

i really wish i had read this thread a lot earlier!
im gonna try it for sure bcause i loose a lot of money when i tilt ![]() intersting point to shut off emotions durin a game...hard for me because i let myself easily led by my emotions ...most of the times they help me take the right descision but when i tilt well...i go broke most of the time... |

wow that's really interesting article, I'm tilting all the time so no hints for now, but accepting your weaknesses is the way to progressing isn't it ?
